As an announcement of a conference, I think your email succeeds. I would have liked to have seen a little more on what the conference is about though.
As a newsletter, I think there could be more content. I'd like to know a little bit more about the organization and the people that work for it.
I'd consider offering your contacts two types of emails - a newsletter and conference notifications. The newsletter could be more personal while the conference updates could have info on the conference and a list of upcoming conferences.
