The remote certificate is invalid according to the validation procedure

The remote certificate is invalid according to the validation procedure

I am getting a strange error using the C# wrapper.

I am able to retrieve my account lists, to check that the credentials are valid and create an activity (bulk upload of contacts). I get the response for adding my contacts (using the bulkUrlEncoded method) and it says that the status is pending and that there are no errors etc. When I then try to get the activity detail I get an exception. The message is:

The underlying connection was closed: Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel.

The inner exception message is:

The remote certificate is invalid according to the validation procedure.

Any thoughts would be really appreciated.

Thanks

David

Re: The remote certificate is invalid according to the validation procedure

Hi David,

I don't believe this is an issue on our side since we haven't heard any other reports of this (in the recent past at least), so I believe this is being caused by a security certificate issue on your side.  Here is a link I found online about what can cause that error message.  Setting up the certificate would be unique to your server configuration, so I'm afraid I can't help too much with that aspect of it.

Re: The remote certificate is invalid according to the validation procedure

Actually I worked out what the error was. I was adding an incorrect parameter to the C# wrapper. The value of id, you would think, would be just that the id. However stepping through the code into the C# wrapper it mangled the values so that it sent an incorrect url. If I set the id value to:

ws/customers/joesflowers/activities/id

it worked. This is highly unintuititive and not at all explained in the wrapper documentation. As it happens the wrapper does not really return any useful information from the activity so I will have to send it outside of the wrapper and parse it myself.

Thanks

Re: The remote certificate is invalid according to the validation procedure

Hi David,

I agree that this isn't very intuitive, and I am passing your comments onto the people who are currently writing new wrappers for our v2 API, which will be available several months from now.  Thank you for the feedback.
