3GE Editor Updates

Moderator

Hi, everyone!

There have been a few updates to the 3rd generation editor, so I'd like to take a moment to discuss what those are. I'll also include a brief video at the end to show exactly how the updates function.

-The elements outlined in the following image are all what we call "stackable." This means that you can drag any of them into place in either a one or two column template.

stackable elements.png

-If you've dragged a Spacer element into your campaign and want to resize it, just place your mouse over it and look for the "grab handle." The grab handle is a more thickly outlined blue area on the bottom of the spacer. You can click on that to drag the spacer and resize it as you need.

-The Spacer and Divider elements now have trash can icons, just click on the element in your campaign and you should see the trash can icon in the edit toolbar.

-The text toolbar now has all of the alignment options grouped into a drop down menu.

-The Greeting tag is now located in the Insert Drop Down menu, which is in the edit toolbar, like this:

We do plan on introducing more features to the Insert Drop Down Menu, and when that occurs I'll post to let everyone know.

If you have any questions about these features please don't hesitate to ask, and you can also take a quick look at the video below to see these functions in action.

Hello,

I'm new to consant contact and so far I am loving the features.  In creating my first email I wanted to adjust cell padding in a block, which I couldnt figure out how to do.  After some searching I found several articles and threads that stated I should be able to access some sort of "code view."  The problem is when comparing screen shots, it seems as if these articles were based off an older version of the editor.  Has this functionality been taken out, or is there a differnet way to achieve this?

HI @CherylS7295

Thanks for posting! In the new editor there isn't a way to see the HTML code but I'm happy to take a look for you. What is the name of the email you are working on and where would you like to adjust the spacing?

The new editor is great but taking away the html eitor means I can no longer easily embed countdowns and other aspects into the e-mail.

Hello @GrahamP

Thank you for the great feedback. Your suggestions mean a lot to us! I understand how having access to the html can be very useful when customizing your campaigns. I will be sure to relay your feedback to our engineers.

Echoing the HTML view's utility, how would one go about adding a subject line in a "mailto" link if not on Outlook based email system?

Employee

Hi @Brandon_1978,

Great question! While adding a link to an email address in the new editor is available, including a "mailto" link isn't possible at this time. More features are being planned for the new editor and I will pass along this request to our developers.

Taking away the HTML feature is a huge problem.  Also, I do a hanging indentations in all of my newsletters...the ability to do that is no longer available.  It looks like everything has to be left, right or full justified, or centered.  Please, please, please bring those features back!!!

I have the same issue with not being able to embed countdown clocks, etc without embarking on a totally custom code campaign.  Wny would you launch a next generation editor and omit KEY features from the previous version.  It makes no sense, especially since seemingly everyone is briniging it to your attention for nearly a year and still no progress.  Considering finding a new email software vendor.  Slow progress to addressing customer needs is never good.

I have had to go to custom code because I cannot edit the html in this version - VERY bad for the work I do.

Hello @SuzanneD50524. Thank you for your feedback. We are actively tracking this request to be able to access the HTML in our 3GE editor. May I ask why you wish to access the HTML? If you would like, you can also email us at social_support(at)constantcontact(dot)com with why you would need this access.

Just adding to the calls to bring back the html function.  I can't even figure out how to add superscript now.  And we often added trademark codes to emails.  Please get this back!

Thank you for posting about this and sending us details via email @ncjwcns. We have passed along your reasons for wanting this feature in our 3GE.

I would like to add my voice to those who are expressing frustration with the removal of the html editor in the email campaign creator.

Funny thing, I'm able to write this comment in html.

Where can I find a Donate button using this editor for my nonprofit client?

Administrator

Hi @DannaC7. This editor does not have a Donate button but with the Button block, you can link to a donation page of your choosing.

Also, I did want to let you know that we do have a Donation tool where you can create a landing page and track donations easily. Also, the landing page does have it's own link that you can include in your campaigns.

Thanks for letting me know.
