Difference between Autoresponder and a Welcome Email

Honored Contributor

While Autoresponders and the Welcome email are similar, they are used for different actions within your account.  Let's go over the differences:

Welcome Email:

  • Is triggered by a Contact being added to your account for the first time.
  • Sends out immediately to the contact
  • Edited under Contacts > Sign Up Tools > Welcome Email
  • One template is available for use or you can use your own code
  • Automatically turned on in your account for any new sign ups; however, it can be turned off

  • Is triggered by a contact being added to a specific list that you designate
  • Sends out based off of how many days since the contact was added to the list, ranging from 1 to 365 days
  • Can be used to schedule a series of emails
  • You can have multiple series, allowing you to have different emails go to different lists
  • Edited under Contacts > Autoresponder
  • Allows you more customization when creating and editing the emails

I hope this helps to differentiate the 2 different products.  Let us know if you have any questions!
