Tutorial: How to Crop an Image using the Image Editor

Honored Contributor

Did you know that you can crop your image right in your library?  No need to edit your image outside of your account, upload it and perform all of your edits easily in your Constant Contact account!

Here's how to do it:

  1. If you have not done so yet, upload your image to the library.
  2. You can get to the Image editor when you are editing your email or on the library tab. Just click the Image Editor button

  3. Once in the Image Editor, click Crop along the top of the window.

  4. Once you click Crop you have a few different options on how to crop your image.  If you have a layout that you need, like a square image or one that is taller than it is wide, choose on of the existing templates available across the top.  You can even put in specific height and width that you need! You can also use the big white circles to adjust by eye.  Take a look below to see what the window will look like.  Keep in mind that anything greyed out along the edges will be cropped out of the image when you click Apply.

  5. Click Apply to finish cropping your image, and then Save. Your last choice is to determined whether you need the original file in your account still, or if you will only need the cropped image.  If you want to keep the original file click Copy in the next window; however, if you will not need the original in your account click Replace.

And that is it! Five easy steps on how to crop your image directly in your account.

Until recently the Crop command worked very well. Recently choosing Crop zooms in on the picture. Instead of presenting the whole picture, it's as though the program is doing an auto-crop. What gives?

Hello @Church_Editor_Bill_and_Julia,

Thank you for coming to the community with your question!  What you're describing doesn't look like it matches any known issues we're having with the image editor.  It's possible that a browser setting or plugin could be causing some kind of interference.  The first step I would suggest is to try a different browser, to see if the issue is occurring there as well.  If you send us an email to social_support(at)constantcontact(dot)com we can look into this more for you.  In that email please include your Username, the browser(s) that are effected, and which image(s) you've encountered this on.  If you can include a screenshot of the zoomed-in view that you've been seeing, that would be helpful as well.
