As a small business owner it may seem daunting at times to try and accomplish everything that needs to be done on your path to success. We can cultivate habits that help us achieve our end goal, and we can cultivate habits that hinder our progress-- and those are the habits that Minda Zetlin addresses in her article "7 Things Really Successful People Never Do."
My personal favorite is the first on the list:
1. Blaming circumstances or other people when things go wrong.
Seems like a natural reaction, right? When things go wrong we can waste a lot of time and energy attempting to figure out where to assign the blame, but that doesn't help in the long run. There are so many things outside of our control- the weather, the economy, your next door neighbor's choice of paint color. We can stress over all of these things that we can't influence, or we can focus our energy on finding the silver lining-- what can you do to help and better the situation? What is within your control?
