Giving Thanks and Harvesting Your Holiday Marketing Plan

It’s the fourth quarter . . . are you ready? One important way to prepare and plan for the biggest and busiest marketing season of the year is to be aware of the period’s trends. According to eMarketer, this holiday season will generate an estimated $885.70 billion in sales, with a significant and growing percentage of transactions taking place online and via mobile devices.

Also, eMarketer predicts that “social shopping” will play an even greater role in 2015 than ever before: “This holiday season will be the first real test of a new wave of social commerce. Over the past year, Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube have all introduced ‘buy’ or ‘shop now’ buttons that significantly ease the process of purchasing from these sites, especially on mobile devices.”

Furthermore, we are shopping well before Black Friday because of pre-Thanksgiving discounts, free shipping and other incentives! As a matter of fact, many consumers – at least 25 percent according to PracticalEcommerce – will purchase a holiday gift before Halloween!

So, how do you engage your clients early and often? Here is some pre-holiday inspiration to get you started:

  • Give thanks for and say thanks to your loyal clients
  • Send a simple Happy Thanksgiving message to your contacts
  • Connect personally by sharing a favorite holiday recipe or tradition
  • Link with a charity to offer a gratitude-themed promotion
  • Carry out a holiday countdown social media campaign
  • Update your newsletter, website and social media platforms with seasonal designs and graphics
