As recently as a few months ago, the generally accepted SEO strategy of peppering your content with keywords or phrases was a sure way to have your company’s website appear at the top of the list when people performed searches using those words.
This was basically how it worked: you selected the best keywords that described our product or service, and utilized those words constantly on your website and in articles/newsletters that you wrote. Surprisingly, many businesses were either not using this strategy or just plain unaware of it.
Therefore, any company that was hip to this approach was ahead of the pack.
Well it is not so simple anymore!
Google has made quite a few changes to their SEO system; the days of stuffing your articles and websites with keywords are over. Now it is paramount that you earn Google's respect through the quality of your content.

You must stop writing for Google and write for your readers.
If you haven’t been using social media as a tool to gain a following, now is the time to begin. Some say that SMO (social media optimization) is the new SEO
If you’re going to publish content on other people’s websites, make sure that they are considered a "trusted source". Google will also be taking down sites that are questionable.
If you take advantage of these strategies, you will be able to abide by the new rules and successfully obtain visibility .
As with everything else, you have to flexible enough to maneuver through changes and it has always been the small businesses/entrepreneurs that do so that come out on top!
