Rachel Muir, of Pursuant, shared with us 3 steps on how to turn a first-time giver into a major donor. It’s not that hard if you think about it. She has perfectly lined up how you can accomplish this.
1. Thank them! This is huge, send them handwritten notes, have a volunteer board member call them, and tell them what benefit their donation has made.
2. While you are thanking them, take the time to get to know a bit more about them. Ask them any of these 3 questions:
What made you decide to give to us?What was the best gift you ever gave and what made it great? If you could change the world, what would you do?
3. Set a goal for how much you want to ask for from that donor with a plan of how many connections you are going to make with them to reach that goal.
