AutoResponders - way to cause immediate send out

Hi there,
I have multiple websites, with different customer bases.
I need to be able to have people sign up on these different sites and receive an email instantly that is addressed to that customer base.
I found how to make an auto-responder that just goes to certain lists,which is great, but it takes up to 24 hours before it is sent out.
Is there a way to either:
A) Speed up how quickly a specific autoresponder goes out?
B) Make more than one Welcome email?

Sorry, there isn't a way to cause an immediate send out for autoresponders, and you are be limited to one welcome email.  The only way to really trigger an immediate email other than the welcome email would be to add a contact to a list and trigger an email through the API, either by adding the contact to a list that has received the email and rescheduling it (within 30 days of the original email send date), or to put the contact in their own list and create and schedule an email just to them.  (I wouldn't really recommend the second way, as it is labor intensive both from a coding perspective and our system).

 

I will add your request to have multiple welcome emails to our list of customers requesting that feature.  Sorry for the limitation!

P.S.  To clarify one possible follow up question, we can't currently set autoresponders to go out to separate lists (e.g.  autoresponder 1 goes to list A and autoresponder 2 goes to list B) -- all of the autoresponders have to go to the same set of lists.  This is another feature request that we have passed onto our developers.

That would be a great upgrade!  As is, not having those features limits the utility of Constant Contact!

I also need these capabilities right now.

 

I am certainly going to cancel my CC account as soon as I determine a suitable competitor who can handle these immediately sent autoresponder when someone signs up from a webform.

 

I cannot believe a website visitor who opts-in and wants a free content product needs to wait 24 hours before they can receive that email.

 

Isn't that the point of an autoresponder?????

Thanks for the feedback Jason, we are working on a new feature for transactional messages (I.E. async one off emails that are triggered based off of some sort of an action).  We do have a Welcome Email that can be triggered immediately whenever a Contact is first added to an account that should like it could fit you needs today though.  The only limitation on that email is that it's only for the very first time a Contact signs up and can only be sent once per Contact.  Let me know if you think this would solve your problem and I can let you know how to trigger it, or you can read our documentation here: http://developer.constantcontact.com/docs/contacts-api/contacts-index.html

I find it strange how impossible it is to styleize the welcome email. I have a really brautiful autoresponder that looks exactly how I want it to look. It's very confusing in the interface that the welcome email and the autoresponder are in different places and operate in completely different ways. I just got used to your editor, and now I have to use a different (and way worse) one for the welcome email. I know you have this on "your to do list" but when will this fix ultimately roll out?

Is there a way to add a document to the welcome email?  I'm offering a Free Report for signing up and would like to get to them immediately.

We do not support attachments in any of our products.  You can insert a link to download the paper assuming it is hosted online.  This is the easiest way to accomplish what you're looking to do.

Has there been any progress on the ability to send out an autoresponse immediatley after a contact is added to a specific list? Looks like I'm not the only one that has had this issue, but the issue was raised nearly 2 years ago... Has there been any changes made?

We have recently made some major updates to our Autoresponder functionality to allow multiple series of messages to be sent. While we are looking into updating the system further to allow messages to be sent out before the current minimum of one day, we do not yet have any specific timelines for when this can be expected.

I'm so surprised you guys don't offer an autoresponder that triggers automatically when someone is added to a specific list.

I'll definately be looking at other providers - we've used you guys for over 5 years, but this is a huge limitation - especially with the increase in online downloads and needing login credentials for some of our online offerings.

Any update on this? I need to send a welcome email when someone is added to a specific list, but waiting 24 hours for them to receive it seems crazy! Any way to do this?

Good news; we have been working on autoresponder functionality. If you have a newer-type account (created within the last couple of months), you already have the ability to create autoresponder emails that are sent out immediately.

 

If you have an older Constant Contact account, we are working on getting you this ability. I'm told it will be approximately 3 months before all users have this capability. Sorry for the delay, and thank you for your patience while we get you this.

It looks like you have an older type account, even though your account is fairly new. We rolled this out to increasing percentages of new users over the last few months, so it isn't surprising that this happened.

 

I may be able to switch you to the newer type account; if you'd like that, please email webservices@constantcontact.com with your username and let us know that you'd like to be flipped to the newer type of account. The only repercussions would be that you would lose email archive, if you're using it. Older users might lose old email campaigns, but since you have less than a month's worth of emails, this shouldn't be an issue for you.

Has there been progress on rolling this out to the older style accounts? Would we still have to change our account status and lose our email archive? It seems like a drastic step, as we have a lot of archived campaigns and corresponding response data.

I've been doing some checking around on our side and it looks like we do have plans to enable this functionality for our users who are still using the older style of account.
