Custom HTML vs Template (CC) // Subject Merge

Question 1:  Can you do a merge on the Subject (like name of company)?

 

Question 2:  

I have script that can generate the custom HTML that I need.


If I have a contact list in CC of 100 emails, which would you  recommend that I choose?

 

Create a custom email template in CC and then send via UI?

OR

Use API to send over each customized HTML per contact?  (1 at at time).

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Constant Contact API Support.

Q1: Right now you cannot create an email with a dynamic subject line within Constant Contact.

 

Q2: When sending an email with Constant Contact you select lists of contacts for that email to be sent to. This works the same if you do this in the UI or via our API. If you were to send an individual email to an individual contact you would end up with a separate email campaign for each contact, and each contact in its own list. Sending emails this way would lead the account to be difficult to manage within the UI.

I see some example online of being able to Merge Property Fields into the subject line when sending via the API....

 

Subject = "Hello  <Property name="Subcriber:FirstName" />

 

Can you confirm that approach will work?

No, this will not work. Due to a system issue, this is likely to display the Constant Contact account owner's information if it shows anything at all. There are currently no plans to change how this functions.
