Denari Integration

Our company just signed up with CC because it is now integrated with our donor management software Denari Online.  I'd like to find out exactly what the integration offers and Denari referred me to you for information.

After I integrate using the API key here are some of my questions:

1. When a donor signs up on our website, it is on Denari's server and the information goes directly to the donor record in Denari software -- will it also go to CC automatically?

2. If I use the HTML coding to put the Denari signup on my CC email, I understand that a welcome email is sent by CC. This would be a duplication since when a donor signs up Denari automatically sends a welcome email. Do you suggest not providing a sign up through CC to avoid this duplication?  Or, is there another way to handle this - block 1 of the welcome emails?

3. When an email recipient clicks Unsubscribe through CC what does this do to the donor record in Denari?

4. What exactly is the difference between uploading names using the API key with Denari and uploading the names directly through Constant Contact?

5.  Anything else you could tell me that would help me understand more about what the integration allows for and will do would be greatly appreciated.  If you would like to call me, my phone is 918-250-8101.

Thanks,

Gayle

Re: Denari Integration

Hi Gayle,

I am sorry for the runaround, but Denari wrote the integration to us and they should be supporting it on their side, since we were given no details about the code they wrote.  I will do my best to answer your questions, but it would be best to try to confirm with Denari.

1.  Probably not.  If the signup form was installed through Denari, I have no knowledge of them sending the contact data to us as well at that point.

2.  That would be a duplication.  For the basic signup forms we provide in our product, there isn't a way to block welcome emails from getting sent out.  If there is a way to stop them in Denali, you may want to do that.

3.  We don't send any data to Denari when a contact is unsubscribed through CC, so the contact would still appear to be active in Denari, unless they have written software to pull contact data from us.

4.  There is probably no difference.  If the data is sent to us by Denari to add a contact, that information would just get transmitted to us through the API as opposed to through the Constant Contact UI.

5.  From what I see here: https://www.denarionline.com/dolhelp/constant.htm, the integration was built to transmit your Denari contacts to Constant Contact, so that you don't have to export contact lists from Denari and upload to Constant Contact manually.  I wouldn't expect this to be too deep of an integration; it most likely doesn't ensure constant list syncing between Denari and us.  If you add a new contact to Denari, unless they have software they haven't explained in the link, that contact porbably wouldn't get sent over to us unless you went through the steps to import Denari contacts to us a second time (after the new contact was added).  Likewise, if a new contact is added thorugh Constant Contact, you would need to add it to Denari as well.

Re: Denari Integration

Shannon,

Thank you for your explanation.  I have also been in touch with the programmer at Denari and between your answers and his, I do have a better understanding of how this is going to come together.  Since it is a new things for all of us, we will just go forward from here and deal with any issues if and when they arise.

I appreciate your quick response!

Re: Denari Integration

Good morning,

I just used the integration feature in Denari to upload a new list to CC and received confirmation message in Denari that the list was submitted to CC. However,  I do not see the list when I go to Contacts in CC - can you help me find out what happened to the list?  Does this process of uploading take longer than the traditional method?  Thanks.

Re: Denari Integration

Hi Gayle,

Sometimes there is some lag between seeing lists & contacts in the user interface (UI) after they are added through the API, but it shouldn't take more than 15 minutes for everything to be reflected correctly.

If, after that point, you still don't see your new lists or contacts, it would be worthwhile to try it again (noting what the name of the new list should be), and if it still doesn't work go back tot he developer to see if maybe the contacts are supposed to be added to an existing list in your account or see if there is an issue with the integration.

Re: Denari Integration

I think I have identified the problem -- the list did import from Denari into CC BUT it was ADDED to an existing list in CC instead of being a New List.  How do we remedy this from occuring again?

Re: Denari Integration

I'm still needing a solution to this issue -- can you help or is this going to be a Denari programming question? Thanks.

Re: Denari Integration

Gayle,

For questions about Denari integration with Constant Contact you should go through Denari Tech Support. If you have questions about how to use Constant Contact then use their support.

Please submit your issue to the Denari support team and we will be happy to help resolve the issue.

Thanks!

Re: Denari Integration

Is this response from the Constant Contact Developer? Shannon had been our tech support person who responded to our inquiries previously, and I'm not sure why she or someone else from CC did not respond to this.

I have already been in touch with Denari and have not had an answer.  I need to hear from an authorized CC support person regarding this so I know how to proceed with Denari because they have been referring me back to you.

If someone from CC could please respond, otherwise it is doubtful we can continue using your service.  Thanks.

Re: Denari Integration

Hi Gayle,

Jim is not with Constant Contact.  From his response, it looks like he is with Denari.  He is correct, Denari should be supporting their software that integrates to us, though I have been answering your questions to the best of my knowledge.  I should say that Denari is absolutely the best place to ask questions about their integrations to us though.

It sounds like the Denari integration was built to move your contacts into an existing list in your account, not create a new list and put contacts into the new list.  You'd really have to speak with them to clarify.  Either it was intentional on their part that Denari contacts would be put into an existing Constant Contact list, or they need to look at their integration to determine the reason that a new list wasn't created.
