How to get a list's id from its name?

Is there any way via the API to retrieve a list's id given its name? I've reviewed the docs a couple times and could not find a way, unless you know the email or contact id of a contact who is already in the list.

Hey David,

We will only return XML  and you would have to create some conditional coding on your side to find out which list ID fits your list name. 

Please let me know if you need any more help with this.
