The http links work fine but the mailto link does not.
Your link looks to be set up correctly to me also. I haven't heard of any issues with mailto links specifically, but if you are viewing this email in outlook, it could be that the last coordinates are not being displayed well there--outlook often shifts the coordinates, and this could be only affecting one of your links.
This post will stay open, so if any other users have no ticed the same thing, they can respond as well. Thank you for contacting Constant Contact, and have a wonderful day!

I'm having the same exact problem right now. The below code does not work when I put the "mailto" code in. However, if I put google's website in, the map works perfectly. It can't be an issue of shifting of coordinates.
<area shape="rect" coords="0,1730,708,1877" href="mailto:firstname.lastname@example.org">
It's looking like there's a different problem. Please advise.
I tested the code pasted above in my own account, using a custom HTML email, and the mailto link worked perfectly in our preview window. I did not do any extensive testing in email clients, which have varying support for image mapping, but I wasn't able to have any issues when viewing the webpage version or the preview version. Any chance you can send me a private message with the username of the account that this isn't working? Would like to look at your exact problematic email to see if there's something we can help with.
I am also facing the same issue. HREF mailto is working in the preview window but when sending the same content to user via test mail, it does not work. The mailto is working perfectly when opening the HTML directly in browser.
The issue you are seeing with broken mailto links is very likely an issue with the email client that is being used. Unfortuantely many email clients do not handle image maps with the <map> tag very well. Sometimes this can cause the map to be misplaced or improperly proportioned in comparison to the image, and sometimes it can cause the map to be non-functional.
In this case, I would expect the web preview to work properly, as the HTML is being rendered by a web browser instead of an email client. As an example of what I have described, I know for sure that Microsoft Outlook 2007 and 2010 both have issues with image maps being placed improperly over an image.
If it is possible, it is usually better in this situation to split your desired image into a small number of vertical or horizontal slices and then link a specific slice of the image for specific purposes.
