Thanks Elijah, that actually worked!

The only problem is that if someone does not fill out the form correctly (like does not fill out a required field), it gives an error message that is not user friendly, so the user has to click "back" on the browser to try again.  Is there any way around that?

It's great that the redirect works though.

Thanks a lot!

Kurt

Hi Kurt,

The only way to have both the redirect and error handling at the moment would be to write a custom piece of Javascript that performs a similar function to the code that's provided by default with our form. This code would submit the form and on a successful response use Javascript to redirect or show an error message.

I'm not sure what the level of effort would be for you to build something like that, but it is possible to do. If you have any questions about specifics, please let me know!

EDIT: After chatting with the team on our side, it looks like we may be able to have an update soon that would solve this problem by allowing you to have a redirect without having to disable the error handling system! I will be sure to post here when that is done.

Any update to this?

Hello,

I just double-checked on the status of this and it doesn't look like the changes have been tested fully and deployed yet. I'll make sure to let the team know that people are waiting and will be sure to post here as soon as I have an update!

Is the ability to take the user back to our page ready yet? I think many customers get to the standard Constant Contact "You're Registered" page and don't have a way to get back to us. Many people are leaving after this rather than struggle through a confusing dead end page.

This is becoming a real deal breaker for us and we have been with you guys for 7 or 8 years now. Surely someone over there can add some functionality so customers can be taken to a page that WE choose.

Thanks.

If you are looking for this functionality as part of our Event Management product, that is not something we have available today.  We do not have any plans to implement a redirect page for Event Management at this time.

We do offer an Embedded Signup Form feature for website email signup forms.  This allows you to keep your subscribers on the same page for the entire experince or, as Elijah has mentioned farther up in this thread, redirect them to a different page on success.  This is only for email list signup forms, not for any of our other products.

Hope this helps!

If you need help adding the Thank You page redirect, I found a page that can generate the code for me rather than playing with the raw code myself:

http://ambitionally.com/popupally/tutorials/constant-contact/

Why on earth do you supply embeded code that people have to monkey with and then on the page where you get it there are no instruction. This is a deal breaker. And after so many people having issues this still persist for years.

All I get even afet removing ALL

<script type='text/javascript'>
var localizedErrMap = {};
localizedErrMap['required'] = 'This field is required.';
localizedErrMap['ca'] = 'An unexpected error occurred while attempting to send email.';
localizedErrMap['email'] = 'Please enter your email address in name@email.com format.';
localizedErrMap['birthday'] = 'Please enter birthday in MM/DD format.';
localizedErrMap['anniversary'] = 'Please enter anniversary in MM/DD/YYYY format.';
localizedErrMap['custom_date'] = 'Please enter this date in MM/DD/YYYY format.';
localizedErrMap['list'] = 'Please select at least one email list.';
localizedErrMap['generic'] = 'This field is invalid.';
localizedErrMap['shared'] = 'Sorry, we could not complete your sign-up. Please contact us to resolve this.';
localizedErrMap['state_mismatch'] = 'Mismatched State/Province and Country.';
localizedErrMap['state_province'] = 'Select a state/province';
localizedErrMap['selectcountry'] = 'Select a country';
var postURL = 'https://visitor2.constantcontact.com/api/signup';
</script>
<script type='text/javascript' src='https://static.ctctcdn.com/h/contacts-embedded-signup-assets/1.0.2/js/signup-form.js'></script>

and add

<input data-id="url:input" type="hidden" name="url" value="https://mydomain/">

is {"success":true}  and yes I cleared all cache.

Hi Scott,

I'm sorry to hear about the frustrating time you're having. You're simply trying to specify a different success page than the page the contact is on when they submit their email address, right?

Can you try downloading the embed code fresh from your account, and simply fill in the value for the url field like you show now, but keep the error handling code? (The ONLY thing you should be doing is adding https://yoursite.com/ into the value field of the URL input.)

I'll also pass this feedback onto the product manager responsible for our signup forms. I agree that you should not need to edit the embed code in order to specify a success page to send the contact to. That should be an option when you're setting up the signup form.

Hey Shannon_W. That worked. Thanks!

And Why not? Thats retarded! Why would we want someone to sit on an ugly gray page and have to re-eneter a URL to get out. That makes no sense at all. Perhaps you should talk to your marketing team. I am pulling my accounts and going to aweber or icontact.

I know this is an old conversation but I just had the very same request and need with my account rep.  For those of us who want to keep customers in our website, accessing possibly additional resources, not haveing the ability to redirect them to our website seem like a huge incovenience and possibly a deal breaker for me... eventhough I love the ease of use and interface.

Hello,

Thank you for chiming in about this! We have definitely recognized that this is a major limitation and I have personally been working with one of our developer teams on some new features with a goal in mind to enable our customers to have signup forms that can be fully embedded out of the box. I don't currently have a specific time-frame that I can give out, but we are hoping to have this available soon!

I would also like to vote for this feature. Clients should be able to re-direct subscribers to a thank-you page on their website after signing up with Constant Contact. This seems like standard functionality at other emails service providers.

Hello,

We have recently released a major update to our signup forms allowing for true embeddable forms for our customers. In addition to this, there is an advanced option to allow users with a bit mroe knowledge of HTML and forms to create more customized forms that do allow you to specify that it should redirect to a provided URL. You can read more about these new forms here: https://knowledgebase.constantcontact.com/articles/KnowledgeBase/5300-overview-list-growth-tools

Hi all,

I use http://optinskin.com/ (WordPress plugin). Redesigned http://soleremedyfootcare.com opt in boxes with free report. $67, one time charge. I love the ability to place the opt in under each blog post in addition to the side bar and on page. Great plug in!

Hi all I am sorry to have to report that I was mistaken and OptinSkin DOES NOT work to redirect.

I thought it did as the OptinSkin litterature said it did but their support just informed me today that they can NOT get it to work with Consatnt Contact.

Again I apologize as this is a very important feature for me as well as it allows me to 1) customize the appearance of optin boxes for my clients (I am sorry but your button/link/text customizations aren't enough) and 2) set Google Analytics Goals to measiure the performance of those optin boxes. These are very important steps in growing your email list.

Best practice now is to create an optin box that offers something in exhange for an email. I also need to place optin boxes in different locations. OptinSkin is the only product I have found that can do this without having to write code.

I would like to request that Constant Contact work together with Viper Chill (the maker of OptinSkin) to make this redirect solution work as it works with several other ESP's.

Thanks!

If we can't do a redirect, then can we at least modify the existin form?  You allow modifications to the forward to a freind form,  why in the world wouldn't you allow modifications to the thank you form?

The only modifications to the "Thank You" page possible are the shared changes with the Join My Mailing List form.  That would be things like colors, fonds and logo.  Other than that, the form is currently not customizable at all.  Will pass on that feedback to our Contact Management product team!

This is truly limiting.  At least provide a "back" link that does a javascript back button click.  Basically the user ends up at a dead end once they sign up for our mailing list!  I hope this can be resolved...

Hello,

We definitely realize that this is a limitation and it is something that we have been working with the team for our Contact Management platform to address. The best workaround that is currently available for this is to bring up the sign-up form in a pop up window so that your website will be visible again once the user is done signing up.
