Triggering Emails Through a Database

I work for a yoga studio that's getting a database build to manage our clients' contact info, memberships, purcahse history, etc. Does anyone know if it's possible to get an app developped to get emails triggered by things like when a client's membership is coming up for renewal or their finance info needs updating or stuff like that?

Thanks.

Hey,

There are many ways to do that. The best way would be able to segment your contacts into lists of months of when a member's renewal would occur.  Then you would use a custom field to give the exact date and send them an email one month before their expiration.

By using our service however you would have to send to a list of people rather than a one-to-one email as that is called a transactional email which isnt allowed with our service.  By sending the email to many people at time you are open to many more benifits.  Thus you would be able to get more accurate reporting information to see how many people opened the email, how many clicked a link to renew, etc.

Please let me know if this helps.

Thanks Ryan.

That's helpful.

Is there any way to get around that list thing if there is only one or a few people generated when we filter for those conditions (probably not the case when sending emails for renewal but occasionally when it comes to a Credit Card expiring we only have one or two people on the list)?

Hey,

Unfortunately for something like that you would want to use a transactional email service.  Our system is designed to handle bulk mail so all of our service flow is generated around that.

What's a transactional emai service?

Thanks.

In email delivery there are two types of services.  Email Service Providers like Constant Contact who focus on bulk marketing and information emails and other companies who focus on single send, one off transactional emails.  There are many transactional services out there. I would recommend Amazon SES (http://aws.amazon.com/ses/)

If we use http://aws.amazon.com/ses for transactional email service  then can we get the mail statistics back with help of Constant Contact API. Like Events(Send,Open, bounce)  as reporting kind of things through Constant Contact API?

Amazon SES is simply a relay API sending service and doesn't offer those features for tracking.  We are not able to assist with that in any way.
