Please support foreign characters

Please work to support foreign characters. Chinese audience is a sizeable chunk of business and for such a large email management tool it is strange that you cannot support it. thanks.

I would also like special character functionality in template-based emails. I know HTML and while I like the templates for streamlining, it's frustrating that I can't use an em dash, bullet or smart quotes in CC unless I fully customize my entire email, which is way too time-consuming. HTML offers standard codes for many charaters. CC should allow those bits to be coded into the html of templates without any trouble. Most email programs allow them, CC should too.

Everyone is complaining about this but where is the answer ??

How can you get foreign characters ?

Do you have to upgrade your subscribsion ?

Same for me. Get up to speed CC.

I would also like to post my support for allowing standard, inline html for special characters.  How is it that Constant Contact does not recognize standard html for "—" and "–"?

Member

Yes, please add support for curly quotes and other smart characters in CC.

Hello Constant Contact, When entering copy into the email, we're unable to use the em dash. Instead, it's truncated into a hyphen. The dash is a vital piece of grammar. Please allow its inclusion. Additionally, when entering a caption under a picture, once saved, the text defaults to white. Invisible, in other words, on a white email. This seems counter-intuitive. Please remedy. Thank you. It is such a time suck to have to go into Word and create a symbol, such as a trademark or registered trademark symbol, and paste it into my email text.  It would be so much easier to insert symbols used frequently in business and superscript and subscript them in the text editor.

Thanks!

Other than the pull-down for strike-out, subscripts, etc. could you add a list of

special characters to insert, such as 1/2, 1/4, hard-space, or allow &#number notation?

New Member

I would like, from to time to time, to be able to add "symbols" to my text.  Registered trademark, copyright, 1/2,  divided by, etc.  Symbols that are normally found in WORD or similar software make communication more professional and appealing.

Hi,

I would really like to See Hebrew become a supported language on the platform. It would greatly enhance the content of our school's newsletters.

Hi, It is an old request to have the possibility to write greek text in the subject field.

Agreed. Placing two spaces after each other to fake increased word spacing (as kerning and tracking controls are missing - not surprising though as HTML lacks controls for these too) also gets replaced with a single space.

EM DASHES! EM DASHES! EM DASHES!

I can hardly believe you released a new "editor" and still have not made provision for em and en dashes. I can understand not providing every special character known to humankind, but em and en dashes are essential.

Your competitors have no problem with accepting html coding for these characters, so it can't be all that hard to do.

Solution Provider

I have had people ask me why I don't use em dashes in my emails...and I have to say that the Constant Contact editor doesn't support them. I'm embarrassed that people think I don't know better. Please allow em and en dashes, as well as other common symbols (trademark, registered trademark, copyright).

I want to add my voice to those calling for supporting m-dashes and other extended ASCII characters in Constant Contact. These are standard characters and widely used in email and other communications. The HTML work-around is time-consuming and inconvenient.

What html work-around? I have yet to hear of one. None of the html codes for em dash that I am aware of will work in CC even if you DO go into the code window (which they aren't gonna let us do any more anyway).
