I created an email using card/announcement and when I tried to add "forward to a friend", "join my mailing list" and permission reminder" I was not able. I would like to have the ability to use these functions in future emails that I create.
Hi everyone! I am following up to the forward to friend feature request. Thank you for your patience as we looked into this! The good news is we have received word from our engineers that feature is now available in our cross device templates under the social share block. If anyone has any additional questions on this, please don’t hesitate to respond to this post as we would be happy to assist you further.
That feature is currently only available in our Legacy templates. I've added you to the feature request, to have that brought into our newer Third Generation editor as well! If you do have access to Legacy templates, the option should appear when you have any block open, in the 'insert' section along the left side of the page.
i am considering switching from our organization's current email/newsletter service to constant contact, and i've been playing around with the templates.
a question: is it possible to have a button at the top of our newsletter for easy email forwarding?
when our current newsletter recipients forward a newsletter to a friend, sometimes that friend unsubscribes the original sender. we are looking to have a button at the top of the newsletter than enables simple forwarding that doesn't expose our current subscribers to deletion.
Thank you for bringing that excellent suggestion to us here in the community! Currently there is not a way to add a separate forward button to the top of an email like you're requesting, but I do see we've gotten a similar feature request before. I'll definitely add your account to that request! If you have any other ideas on how we can improve the product, definitely let us know, and we'll be happy to pass those on as well!
Yes, please add the Forward option back! I send our existing newsletter to potential subscribers to show them what it's like; I've just changed to a new email template and discovered today that I can't forward it. Very frustrating. 😞
We will be sure to submit that feedback for you. In the meantime, your recipients can still use the forward option with their email client, to send your emails to their contacts.
Please let us know if you have any additional questions!
Thanks for passing the feedback on. I know my recipients can forward it; it's just not much help to me when I want to send it to prospective subscribers.
I mentioned this in another thread, so apologies if you're reading it twice. A help answer from a CTCT person just a few days ago said it is there; no mention of having to be on the third generation editor.
Thank you for replying back. I responded to your mention on the other thread. The "Forward to a Friend" functionality is only available on the Legacy template. At this time, the Third Generation editor does not include this functionality. I hope this information has helped. Let me know if you have any additional questions.
I do apologize for the inconvenience this has caused. The reason why the "Forward to a Friend" option was left out of the new editor was because of its low usage. Also, we have improved the ability for our templates to maintain formatting/consistency when simply just using the forward the email option located in the email clients. I have however, tracked this feature request to your account to notify our developers. Again, I do apologize for the inconvenience.
Does anyone know if the ability to let your subscribers forward the email to their friends has been discontinued? I can't find it anywhere in the 3rd generation editor.
This feature is one significant one that has kept me using Constant Contact, since at least (I haven't checked how many others) only send a link to the web version when you forward the email. Constant Contact's big advantage, from my perspective, with regard to this, was that it actually forwarded the email itself, not forcing the receiver to click a link to even see what is being sent to them. Also, I suspect that just sending the link would cause many forwards to be filtered as possible spam.
Thank you for reaching out to the Community. That is a great question! Unfortunately the forward to a friend feature is currently unavailable in the third generation editor. I do apologize for the inconvenience.
We really appreciate your specific feedback on how the third generation editor can be improved. It's great insight for our developers to review as they map out future updates for the product. I have tracked it in your account for them to see.
I also encourage you to check out our Feedback area of the Community where you can post any additional feedback you have and chime in with other customers sharing their ideas.
In the meantime, if you have any further questions please feel free to reach out to us here. We are always happy to assist you in any way we can!
Thank you for reaching out to us through the Community. We do appreciate your request since it provides great feedback for our developers as they continue to work diligently in trying to improve our products. I have also tracked this to your account, notifying them about this request. Let us I know if you need assistance with anything else.
I have been asked to indicate if any of the answers are "accepted solutions". I guess in one sense I could say that telling me the feature is GONE in the 3rd generation is an answer, but an accepted solution? Not really. All email service providers I know of provide a forwarding feature in one form or another. What I have liked about the one in constant contact is that it actually forwards the email, rather than a link to it.
I understand that you find it is rarely used, but the lack of providing a forwarding option just makes it look like we don't care whether our subscribers become "popularizers" of our campaigns. Everyone knows this is a standard feature of emails.
I do apologize this is not currently an available feature. I completely understand that this is an important option for you to have in your email campaigns. Since I have tracked this feature request in your account, you will be notified when this becomes available.
Please also let us know if there is anything else we can do for you. Thank you and enjoy your weekend.
