Re: Newsletter recipients being blocked by SPAM Cop - Do you have the same problem?

Sent out another newsletter today. Lots of blocked users again, same as before, they have SpamCop in common.Getting frustrated here that my bounce rate is getting so high. I was so proud of the way I was keeping the bounce rate at below 1% by activly taking control of my mail list ony to have these efforts thwarted.

It's a month now, can we get an update ion this please.

Jarred:

Is this only an IP address issue with Spam Cop, or are there other issues like message header etc that users can address to improve on bounces?

Re: Newsletter recipients being blocked by SPAM Cop - Do you have the same problem?

When I called customer service and found out about this issue in October I wasn't told that it had already been an ongoing problem for a month. It looks like this has been an issue for over two months now without any resolution. At this point "We're working on it" is starting to sound like "The check's in the mail".

I don't doubt that something is being done, or attempted to be done, but more open communication on what that "something" is would be appreciated. As well as some kind of estimation on when it will be resolved, or what will be done if this isn't resolved in a timely manner. Between this issue and the increase in price (which was resolved for us in a timely manner, for our pre-payment period at least) we are back to considering looking at other vendors.

I would much prefer to stay here. I honestly believe that CC offers more value with the range of features and ease of use than their competitors. Especially since we use the email, event, and survey features. Getting those items individually from other companies would be a huge pain for me in terms of research and re-training our staff. However, when my boss starts asking about our email reports and the numbers, he is justified in weighing those considerations against the fact that some of our customer base is simply not getting our emails.

Re: Newsletter recipients being blocked by SPAM Cop - Do you have the same problem?

I've had issues with Earthlink and Comcast mostly.  My last email had about 75 users blocked. At the moment an Earthlink email address is useless to me. But to be honest I have problems with Earthlink even when I send a new client a direct email.

CTCT has hundreds of thousands of customers and according to what is shared a dozen or so IP addressees serving all those clients.  Do the math.  I would think its next to impossible to maintain a consistent IP reputation with the flux of customers that use these services. Its amazing its so good but the email providers are getting tougher and tougher. They are protecting their clients and their technical resources as well.

I'd venture to say that as soon as one issue is resolved another one will show up.  The most common user of this system is not even aware of these issues.  The power user who monitors such things will see these numbers and raise concern, CTCT will attempt to address them but the longer they remain unresolved the more obvious it is that they may be unresolvable.

That is my concern. If this is not going to be resolved, than as a paying customer, I would like to know that. I work almost entirely with teachers and there are several districts that are getting blocked.I asked if it could be internal issues with the district and I was told specifically that they majority were due to SpamCop.
Oddly I haven't had many issues with Earthlink or Comcast, but I also have such a large number of participants across so many lists it takes a lot of time just to continue checking on all of the emails and contact lists.
I am also getting a serious increase in the number of emails listed as Non Existant. This is actually what got my attention initially and when I called CC I was told that the emails were not going through due to SpamCop, not that they were really non-existant or no longer existing. Now I'm not deleting any emails whether they are blocked, or non-existant because I don't know how accurate that information is or how long it will be valid. The more I think about this, the more "small" problems seem to be adding up with this. :/

Re: Newsletter recipients being blocked by SPAM Cop - Do you have the same problem?

From the latest status.

"SpamCop currently lists one of our IP addresses....."

Does that mean there are accounts on other servers that are not being blocked?

If so when can the blocked accounts be moved over??  Why discriminate on the folks on one server?

I would think it is more of a crap shoot where if your mail gets sent off that server with that IP then it will have a high bounce rate. Lately my newsletters have been back to their very low 0.2% bounce rate, but every now and again one must be going off the server with the tainted IP cause I will have a very high bounce rate for that newsletter..

Without knowing too much about the CC architecture I guess what you describe is consistent with a round robin technique which seems to make more sense than having particular users housed on a persistent server.
