The text is left aligned within the template. However, when I view the email in gmail text is centered.
I started from a template to eliminate errors due to my own code. The template I selected is “Entertainment Promotion”, which is the first option after selecting the right-side side content in the layout menu.
I’ve tried three ways to left align the text, none worked. I’ve read google uses inline styles so I haven’t touched the style sheets.
1. I sent the template as is.
2. In the DIV tag I put [style=”text-align: left”]. In the TD tag is [style=”text-align: left”] and [align=left]. The code is shown at the bottom.
3. Same as 2 but used [align=left] in DIV tag instead.
Example html code for attempt 2:
<TABLE style="DISPLAY: table" id=textEdit border=0 cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 width="100%"" isPart="true">>
<TD style="TEXT-ALIGN: left; PADDING-BOTTOM: 7px; PADDING-LEFT: 12px; PADDING-RIGHT: 12px; FONT-FAMILY: Times New Roman, Times, serif; COLOR: #ffffff; FONT-SIZE: 10pt; PADDING-TOP: 7px" vAlign=top align=left styleclass=" style_Content style_MainText"" isPart="true">>
<DIV style="TEXT-ALIGN: left"" isPart="true">><IMG border=0 hspace=10 vspace=5 align=right src="https://imgssl.constantcontact.com/letters/images/
Thanks in advance!
It turns out the error was not due to the code.
I had sent the email to my work email hosted on rackspace and viewed in outlook. I then forwarded to my gmail account. Somehow in this process the formatting occurred. When I send directly to gmail all is fine.
Great! I'm glad you were able to resolve this on your own! I was just looking into our common display issues FAQ to see if we had this in Gmail.
Thanks for posting!
