We are going to go over placeholders within your Event. Let’s start with the basics:
What are placeholders? Placeholders are visible only to you when editing an email. They represent a section of text/images that will be populated in your email when it is sent. For EventSpot placeholders, it is mostly your Event Information that utilizes placeholders, see below for full details.
How can you determine what is a placeholder and what is not? Placeholders have a faint dotted line surrounding text. The text in the placeholder will tell you what information will populate when sent (i.e. Event Date and Time).
What information uses placeholders in EventSpot? In your invitation, the following information will be added as placeholders. Here is the list of what will have placeholders:
Event Date and Time, Location, Address, Map, Driving Directions Link, Event Title, Dear Contact First Name, Event Contact Name, Contact Organization, Contact Email and Contact Phone. Here is what a default invitation might look like:
How will it look to my audience? If you Preview the email, you will see all placeholder information filled in. This will give you a good idea as to what it will look like when sent. All information where you see placeholders will be populated with the information you added about your event under “Basics.” If you need to edit this info, take a look here for instructions.
What can you do with placeholders? Placeholders cannot be edited but they can be deleted. If you accidentally delete a placeholder and want to add it back, it is best to delete the block and add a new one. The new block will have the default information, including your event placeholders.
