Changing layout colors

This is not really an idea but just an issue I have come across several times. Maybe someone can fix it?

Quite often when I am designing our monthly newsletter (email campaign) the border and background colors seem to randomly change. It's kind of frustrating and sometimes I am not able to restore it to the original color (because it is not in the basic color choices). Would love for this to go away.

Hello @FCCSMenloPark ,

Does this seem to occur with a template that has been copied particularly often, or does this also happen regularly with brand new, built-from scratch / template picker pre-built templates as well?

This post shows that the issue is resolved, I don't see the solution to this issue, all I see is a question from you.  Please advise.  Thank you

Hi @KarenW578 ,

We ended up addressing this through email responses, so I'll paste what I suggested in that correspondence:

---

So this is unfortunately an issue that can arise when a template is copied over and over and over again. While the issue isn't nearly as severe as it was with the retired 2GE, it can still occur once you get enough generations of copies down the line.

I'd recommend rebuilding your email template, or calling our general support team and working with them (or put in a request) to rebuild it. I'd also advise keeping the rebuilt one as a master template. This way you can copy directly from that master every now and then, or every time, to avoid running into this type of issue.

You can still use the template you already have, and simply go through and replace problematic blocks as needed (mouse over block, gear icon on the right, trash can, then drag over a fresh text/image/layout block). However older bits of the email that have been copied over-and-over may end up displaying similar formatting issues in editing and sendouts later on. Having a freshly made master template to copy directly from will ensure the copy's coding is as baseline pure as possible.

The color change also happens to me sometimes when I'm designing our monthly newsletter (email campaign).  The email campaign is a copied email, but the color changes don't happen immediately; it's random.   Some of the border and background colors change to black.  I have talked to customer service, and they have passed the information on to their team. I haven't heard from them on the issue.  I keep my website and email design colors handy so I can change them back to the correct color.  It is frustrating, and I hope they fix it.
