Copy an item

Is there any way to copy an item within section on a website?.  For example, when adding a new item to an events page on a website, the only choice seems to be to add the item event and create it again from scratch or copy paste the text from another event box by box and usually reformatting it.  Much of the text from our events is the same, time, location, agenda, etc.  Being able to copy a previous event item  and then editing just the date and a few other things would be handy.
