Edit mobile view

Is there a way that I can edit the mobile version of the email? I am VERY frustrated with the way some images come up on the mobile view. I've made changes to the size and location of my logo in the email but it still shows up very large on the mobile view--which is obnoxious and takes up unnecessary space. Please advise.

I apologize you're having this experience with your image resizing on a mobile device. Although the logo in your email was resized to appear smaller, it was uploaded at around 550px wide. This upload size causes it to display larger on a mobile device. Our templates are mobile responsive, and are designed to resize and display full width on a mobile device. To have your image display the way you would like it to, we suggest resizing it outside of our program to have a smaller width and re-uploaded into your account.

 

I do also want to make aware all feedback is read by Constant Contact employees. While there may not be a response for every comment – it is acknowledged. So thank you for sharing your feedback on this! Though this is functioning as designed, I have submitted this feedback to our Product team in the event that there is any change in the future.

2 years LATER from this original thread and still no mobile editor. 

Emails, websites and general online searches are now used on a mobile device and yet we are left  to have to try hacks, and fixes to make a design and layout look kinda decent on a mobile device. 

Customers lose subscribers if mobile emails do not look nice. Businesses lose people on their websites if they don't format correctly in mobile. The drop rate is astonishing.

So why should we stay with Constant Contact when offers mobile editing? Where is the urgency to help it's users? Even the simple website editor, Wix, allows for mobile editing, even though it's slightly annoying to use. Google even put out statistics how most all use online is through a phone now. Mobile device layout viewing it to be put above desktop.

WHY IS THIS NOT A PRIORITY AFTER 2 YEARS?

Can you elaborate a bit on what else you'd like to see as far as mobile-editing? You can create and edit templates built specifically for mobile viewing on our mobile app. Templates created on the mobile app use the Cross-Platform Editor (CPE), which allows editing it in both the app and the browser UI. You can also preview your browser-built emails so you can see how they'll look on both desktop and mobile views.

Agreed, this is quite frustrating. Other web design software products seem to have figured this out, so it's surprising and frustrating that CC has not.

I am having the same problem, except I am using a colored background with my logo - so creating a logo with spacing around it is a bit more tedious. Having our logo show up full screen on a mobile device looks pretty silly to me. It doesn't look professional and clean. We should be able to choose whether or not we want an image to be responsive. It would make it 100% easier if Constant Contact added this as an image option.

Being as there's currently no way to edit just the mobile version, it won't help specifically with that, but our webinar series covers tips and best practices for optimizing your campaigns, and for mobile as well.

I have struggled with this too and it is seriously frustrating. Mobile e-mail is the majority of how our clients open them and they look terrible with huge images in them. This should be a priority for constant contact to adjust!!!!

I just figured this out; was having same issue. Use CC photo editor and resize to 150w (be sure you lock resolution first). When I viewed the image in mobile view after doing this, it was smaller with a nice amount of white space on either side.

Thanks for joining us in the Community and sharing your experiences with updating the image in our image editor. This can certainly work overall provided you have a smaller width, but as an alternative it can be helpful to update the image size outside of Constant Contact by reducing it to less than 200px wide(as you did here with resizing to 150ppx) and re-uploading it. This way, it appears smaller on a mobile device.

Unfortunately, when you reduce the image to that size and then place it in the email, it loses definition. So I don't find this to be a solution. I would be really useful Constant Contact could provide some guidelines for the folks who are not using an agency to do their designs and are still struggling.

  • Are you not expecting the image to fill the whole width of the mobile device?
  • Would the you want the image to remain the same size as in the editor/desktop preview?
  • Do you want to set a specific width and height to the image for being viewed on a mobile device only?

I have to agree that the mobile conversion of my constant contact emails is absurd. The fact that you cannot edit/adjust the mobile view is also, at this point, in 2020, completely unacceptable if you want an adequate email marketing software/provider. I am searching for a different platform -- anyone have recommendations?

Thank you for much for your feedback we do really appreciate it! The solution is to update the image size outside of Constant Contact by reducing it to less than 200px wide and re-uploading it. This way, it appears smaller on a mobile device.

What kind of program should I use to reduce the size of the images - I also think this is not a great solution that I have to go and do this for each image.....
