I've used the CC GDPR template to communicate with our database.
I can see the opens but there are no clicks at all. I sent this to our own workforce as well as customers and know that people have clicked, including myself, however this is showing as 0% clicks.
Does anyone know what's going on? The mail was sent Thursday 26 April.
I have recently used the template set out for GDPR. Was just wondering how I know if my customers have agreed for me to keep sending them emails. I can see who has unsubscribed and who has opened the email but I still need confirmation that they have agreed to sign up to our mailing list. Anyone else struggling with this?
Thank you for coming to the community with your question! When someone clicks affirmatively that they would like to receive your emails, their status is automatically changed from 'Implied Permission' to 'Express Permission'. You can see a description of both of those categories listed here. You can find them in your contacts page. If you don't see them right away, just go to your account settings, and make sure to turn on 'Enable advanced email permissions.' We track the permission status even if you haven't turned on the feature that lets you see it, so you don't have to worry if it was turned off previously.
I'm having trouble with this as well. I understand that you can get a full list of who has provided express and implied permission, and those numbers (lists) will change based on who clicks the confirmation button. However, I can't find a way to see who (among those who received the GDPR email) clicked on the button. Without a list of who received it, who clicked on it, and who didn't, I can't find a way to filter out those with only implied permission moving forward.

In order to see a filtered list of those contacts with either Implied or Express Permission, you will first need to “Enable advanced email permissions” in My Settings. You'll then see those particular folders on the Contact Management page. Any contacts who clicked the permission link in your GDPR email will be in the Express Permission folder. At this current time, we do not have ability to track the clicks for the GDPR templates because our system does not track the soft-confirmation links. I do apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. However, the links should be working properly independent of the reports not being tracked. I have the same concern. I may be missing something, but the only way to see confirmations (the whole point of the exercise) seems to be to export opens to Excel. Also surprised the template didn't offer buttons for 'Update profile' and 'Unsubscribe', so I could send an email with 3 clear and obvious options in the lead up to GDPR. As this was only possible for 'confirm', had to just try and direct to the teensy links in the footer that people can never find.
Thank you for reaching out to us through the Community. There is currently no option to see the confirmations. The export of the opens do not refer to who has confirmed to the GDPR template. However, I have tracked the feature to view the confirmations to your account to notify our developers about the feature request. Also, at the moment, we don't have the ability to move the unsubscribe or update profile links to button in the main template. I do apologize for the inconvenience in not having these options, but please let us know if you need assistance with anything else.

However this isn't a solution. Essentially the GDPR template provided entirely fails in its objective.
There is no way of tracking who has clicked in the mail to give permission to be contacted.
This has caused us an enormous business issue. Please remove the GDPR template from the site to avoid others users facing this same issue, it is vastly misleading.
I've had the same issues with regards to a lack of reporting on who has re-subscribed or not with this template. However, if you export the opens to excel you can at least see who has clicked through. But I am uncertain what the difference shown in the report is with the Status and Permission columns in some instances. For example, if a contact is listed as Status is Active and Permission is Implied, does this mean they can no longer be contacted? And if that is the case, does your system treat them on the same basis as Unsubscribed? Or do we have their permission to continue to contact them?
Hi Tracey. I'm taking it that 'implied' is people I can't evidence a confirmed opt-in for - I suppose permission is implied because they signed up in the first place and haven't yet unsubscribed.
Looking at the dates in my download, all the 'express' permissions are on or after the dates I sent the GDPR template emails out. I'm taking the view that those who are active but for whom I have no evidence of express permission /confirmed opt-in after sending them the GDPR email 3 times, I will have to remove, as GDPR says silence is no longer consent.
I've not had time to check many of those, but the ones I have looked at were not engaging much with anything I've sent out recently, so to me, that's an 'implied' unsubscribe!
I think we will probably do the same and take the common sense approach that you have. At least out of the shambles of this inadequate template from Constant Contact, is that it has mean't we've scrutinised the results more closely than we might have otherwise.
You're all having a great conversation about GDPR, and I appreciate you all bringing your concerns about this to us. Part of GDPR is actually enabling Confirmed Opt-In. Once this is done, you'll see two new tabs on your Contacts page: Express Consent and Implied Consent. This will help you keep track of who has opted in through your email!

That’s a great question! It is definitely important to know who has given consent and who hasn’t.
Any contact you have sent the GDPR template to will be automatically put into an email permission status of “Implied” permission and will show in the “Implied Permission” folder on the Contact Management screen. The contacts that click on the consent button in the GDPR template email will be changed to “Express” email permission status and will then show in the “Express Permission” folder on the Contact Management page. If you would like to send a follow-up email to the contacts that have not given consent yet, just tag or make a new list of the “Implied Permission” contact folder and send to those contacts.
To make a unified list of all the contacts that have given consent, just create a new list of the “Express Permission” folder.
You can also export the contacts to a file and include the Advanced Info fields to show the actual email status of “confirmed”, the confirmed opt-in date, and the email permission status.
We really appreciate your concern with this. While you may not be able to see who has clicked on what, we still record that permission status of your customers with your contacts page, so the GDPR template is serving its purpose. If you'd like to be able to see who your express vs. implied contacts are, you can always enable Advanced Permissions which will add a new breakdown on your Contacts page.

On the tutorial for this template it clearly shows an export to excel of who has confirmed permission and who has not (through reporting). So if I can't see the clicks, how at least do I see this report? Otherwise, as the previous responder said, this template is completely useless - after 25 May I cannot send emails to people who have not explicitly reconfirmed email receipt and I will have no way of knowing who they are.

The clicks for GDPR templates are not currently being tracked within our system since they are soft-confirmation links. As was mentioned above, you should be able to view who has express permission vs implied permission within your database in the Contacts management page after having enabled the Advanced Permissions. We would like to send a newsletter to all contacts in the database and ask them to re-enter their contact details in a contact field and confirm by double opt-in that they would like to continue receiving our mailings. All other contacts are to be deleted.
Are there templates or action blocks for this? I have seen the GDPR template. However, this does not allow form fields to update their profile and only a simple opt-in (instead of double-opt-in). Also the scope for design (colors etc.) is very limited.
That’s a great question! I can definitely understand how helpful it would be to have a double-opt in template or an action block as you have mentioned. At this time these are not features we currently provide. A double opt-in can currently only be set up for new sign ups when the confirmed opt-in setting in your account is enabled. However contacts can always re-enter their information through our update profile form.
In fact, if the advanced email permissions in your account are turned on contacts can be changed from implied to express permission through this form. I apologize for any inconvenience these workarounds may cause. I have also tracked your feedback on this in your account as changes are still being made to help keep accordance with GDPR as we get closer to the date. It's very important for us to customize this GDPR mail. As far as I can see, the button is fix and can't be changed. We are sending it out to German customers so we definately need to change it into German. Also the blue color doesn't comply with our color code.
Are there ways to do customizations?
