This is what happens when my newsletter goes to gmail accounts - does this happen with everyone?? How can this be fixed?constant contact email problem.jpg

Thank you for reaching out to the Community and providing us with this screenshot! This is a message that we are currently doing research on to see if we can work with Gmail to get it removed. Can you please reply with the answers to these questions for further troubleshooting? 

 

- How long have you been seeing this issue?
- Have you tried clicking "Looks safe"?
- Did clicking "Looks safe" work?
- Did subsequent messages have the same warning? Thanks!

This has been happening for a year. If I click, "Looks Safe," the banner goes away so I can read the email. I have done so every time I've sent out an email, and this happens every time.
This is really upsetting! Reflects poorly.

Hi @SuzanneM665. We've seen in the past this banner will appear if the From address is the same or similar to the To address. Gmail sees this as spoofing and provides a warning message as seen in the screenshot. This appears to be an issue with Gmail only when sending to yourself or another address with the same private domain so other contacts who receive this email generally do not see the same warning. If other contacts report seeing this message and they do not have the same domain as you, please let us know.

I don't see the banner but I have a worse problem. When I send a test email to a gmail account, gmail puts in in a promotional inbox where no one will ever see it.

 

I never even knew I had a promotional inbox in gmail. To see it, I had to click on Categorie and then click on Promotions.

 

I'm sending from a corporate domain at GoDaddy. I added the name records at GoDaddy and self-authenticate my email address but gmail still sends Constant Contact emails to the promotional inbox.

 

If I can't get this fixed, I won't be able to use Constant Contact.

Hello @PhillipF105. This is primarily due to how your Gmail inbox is set up. The Gmail promotion tab collects marketing and bulk emails, such as deals, offers, and other promotional messages. Emails sent through Constant Contact and other large email marketing providers typically end up here because we are an Email Service Provider (ESP). Please see the attached article on how to disable these tabs and other steps you can take to prevent landing there.

The problem is not sending my newsletter to myself at gmail. I never even knew there was a promotional tab in gmail until someone at Constant Contact told me to look for my test email of the newsletter there.

I'm sure that none of my contacts know about that either. I asked a few people and none knew about the promotional folder. It's not obvious or easy to find. That means that no one on my mailing list with gmail will ever see my newsletter.

Someone at Constant Contact in the deliverability department told me I probably won't have the problem if I send from my own domain. I will have to try sending my newsletter from my website using a WordPress plugin and see what happens.
