can i create an invitation only for members of a group? Non-members can sign up for other things, but we want to be able to invite only specific people in our database.

If you're wanting to do that, then I'd advise making a simple lead generation landing page, and providing its share URL to members only. For example, if you have a main members-only list, you can send an email to them inviting them to sign up for the list, using a link you've included.

Otherwise, you'd need to work internally within your database to figure out which of your member contacts can be on the list.
