How do you add a Facebook "Like" button to your email?

I'm trying to add html code to an email to insert a Facebook "Like" button.  This is different than a button with a simple link to your facebook page.  I inserted a new promotion block and used the html viewer to insert the code.  Unfortunately, nothing appeared.  Is there a solution to this posted online?

Adding a Facebook button to your email is a great way to drive social media traffic.  The process is a little different depending on the editor so I will include both instructions below.

2GE :  The first step will be copying the URL for your social media profile that you want to use, Facebook in this case.

Place your cursor where you want the social media icon to appear and click Social.
Place your cursor over your social media platform and click the plus button.
Note: If your social media platform isn't listed, you can manually add an image of the logo as a clickable link. Select your image. Follow the instructions under the Link field to copy and paste the link for your unique social media page. Click Insert.Click Save to continue editing your campaign email.

3GE: The first step will be copying the URL for your social media profile that you want to use, Facebook in this case.

Go to the left side of the screen under the “Build” tab and you will see “Social”.

Once the icons are added, click any of the icons to open the editor and click “Edit”.

Paste the URL into the field next to the Facebook social media icon and click the chain icon to test the link.

Click Insert to continue editing your template.  See this article for more information:

I'm kind of new to this too, but I believe the social media buttons are for your recipients to be able to share on their social media pages.  I don't think you can link to yours via those.

Hi Todd and Erika,

Great questions! Some Email Marketing templates come with Social Media blocks pre-inserted or you can add in Social Media Icons into any block. I've included a screenshot below that outlines the social media button option menu on the left, and the social media block at the bottom. This template came with four icons already inserted but you can remove or add them as necessary. The point of these buttons is to link your readers to your social media sites. You can right click each icon, choose "change" and add in your social media link.

Also, as part of Email Marketing there is a "Share Bar" function that you can turn on/off. It appears at the top of any emails you send out and allows your users to share their email on their social media sites.

The "Share Block" is only available for Social Campaigns. This allows your reader to share your social campaign on Twitter of Facebook, so it's not exactly the same.

Hope this helps,

Being this has been on going for over 3 years.... And still nothing... And you can't add the HTML to it your self... Guess we wont be counting on it being added any time soon, Really annoying when it should be something fairly simple to use their API.

I do it with all my sites and yet my emails are still left without.   kind of sad

I would like to be able to add the Share Bar to my outgoing emails, but it seems I can't because I use my own code through the advanced editor. I would be a nice feature to add. Thanks for your consideration. - Frank Thompson

Hi Frank,

You can add the share bar to your custom code emails if you would like. Here's an FAQ on how to do this!

I created the email on this initially, but I had to go back to the original formatting because I did not have the option to add the Social Share buttons at the top of the email.

Juan I am familiar with that. My problem is that it is NOT an available option if I am sending an email to promote an EventSpot event.

If the email is generated from EventSpot, I have NO way to add the Social Share Buttons to encourage the email recipient to share the upcoming event.

Hi Tom,

Thank you for your feedback. That is correct -- the social share bar is not an option to be added to the Event Email Invitation at this time. I have submitted your request for this and our developers will be looking into it. Please continue voting for this and any other feature you want us to add. We appreciate your product feedback and suggestions!

Have a great day!

Hi Tom,

You can go to our Feedback page to vote for your idea as well as other community user's ideas. There is a post there about Simple Share for EventSpot but I haven't found one for the Social Share bar for event invites. Please click here to view the Feedback forum to send in your vote. Thanks again

I want to allow readers to share my emails on facebook, twitter, or forward to a friend. However, the social share button in the header is easily overlooked. Can I move the social share buttons down to the body of my text? OR can I insert share buttons for facebook and twitter, and forward email link to the body of the text? I know I can insert facebook and twitter buttons that will link to my facebook page/twitter feed. However, I want them to share it, not just go to our page.

If I can't move social share buttons, I am looking for something like this:

Hello,

If you are using a custom coded email we have this FAQ that goes over how to add the Social Share bar into the email.  With adding that code you can place it anywhere in the email that you wish.  We do not have a way to move the share bar around or manually create a share bar in an email with the image you provided. This sounds like it would be a great suggestion to pass along though, you can post this as a new idea in our feedback area.

Did you know that your contacts can share your email on their social networks? We make it super easy for them to do so by adding what is called the Social Share bar to the top of your email. There is no cost for this, we track the shares, and it’s easy to turn on/off within each email.  Let’s go over some information and I’ll show you how you can easily add this to extend your reach on social media!

You can add it to any of our Email Marketing emails (Event invite, Emails, Deals, Online Survey invites, Social Campaign invites).

It looks like this:

Social Share Bar.jpg

Your contacts can share on their Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, or if they click the + sign, they can share on any of these sites:

Social share others.jpg

And if they click the Facebook Like button, that puts up a status in their Facebook NewsFeed that they liked your email and allows others to check it out!

Now that you know what the button allows, how do you add it? This is in the Headers Option block in your emails.

When editing your email, look for where your From Name, Subject Line, and Reply Email are.  You will see Header Options, click anywhere in the block to edit.  You will then see the following window. The last option is Social Share Links. Just check that box and hit OK.  Make sure to click Save when editing the email again to save this change.

Social Share Overlay.jpg

And that’s it! The Social Share Bar will now appear at the top of your sent emails.

Any questions let us know!

I wish this was a block option so we could add it to the bottom of the email.

Hello @MarinaN8

That is a great suggestion. Would you mind commenting and voting on this idea here please?  Feel free to add where you might want to add this, in any block, or in the footer of the campaign.

Thanks,
