How do you add a Facebook "Like" button to your email?

I'm trying to add html code to an email to insert a Facebook "Like" button.  This is different than a button with a simple link to your facebook page.  I inserted a new promotion block and used the html viewer to insert the code.  Unfortunately, nothing appeared.  Is there a solution to this posted online?

Adding a Facebook button to your email is a great way to drive social media traffic.  The process is a little different depending on the editor so I will include both instructions below.

2GE :  The first step will be copying the URL for your social media profile that you want to use, Facebook in this case.

Place your cursor where you want the social media icon to appear and click Social.
Place your cursor over your social media platform and click the plus button.
Note: If your social media platform isn't listed, you can manually add an image of the logo as a clickable link. Select your image. Follow the instructions under the Link field to copy and paste the link for your unique social media page. Click Insert.Click Save to continue editing your campaign email.

3GE: The first step will be copying the URL for your social media profile that you want to use, Facebook in this case.

Go to the left side of the screen under the “Build” tab and you will see “Social”.

Once the icons are added, click any of the icons to open the editor and click “Edit”.

Paste the URL into the field next to the Facebook social media icon and click the chain icon to test the link.

Click Insert to continue editing your template.  See this article for more information:

Hello, I've searched the community and didn't find anything about adding a Like button to my emails.

What I'm referring to, is how a lot of different blogs are making it easy for readers to post their content to their Facebook page by clicking on a 'Like' button.

Is it possible to do this with an email newsletter? If anyone has any thoughts on this, I'd be interested to hear them.

To insert a link for either your Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube, Flickr or Blog account directly into an email: Find the block where the link will go. Click the Edit icon . Position your cursor where you want the icon to appear. Under Social Media on the left side of the screen, click on either the Facebook , LinkedIn , Twitter , YouTube , Flickr , or Blog icon. In the window that appears, choose the image you wish to use from the available choices. Follow the instructions under the Link box within the window to get the unique social media link. Click Insert. Wishing you success

This works fine for a simple link to facebook, etc. but does anyone know how to use the actual code for "Like Us" ? http://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/plugins/like-box/ we can get it to show up in email - ie. gmail, etc.

How do I add a link onto my email newsletter so that people can like my facebook business page?

When you open a block to edit/add content, in the bar to the left where you add images, videos, etc - if you follow that column down you will see the facebook, twitter, etc. link add. Click on the facebook link. A window pops up asking which button you would like to use. Select the button, then paste your facebook url in so that it automatically links. The same for twitter and linked in.

Maybe someone can help me out here. I see how to add the facebook links using the insert tool in the editor. I don't see how to add a "like" button among the facebook buttons that are offerred.

I have a custom email that I produced. I've already added the facebook like button graphic. I just need the code so that when the email recipient clicks on the "like" button in the email it will add that person's like to our facebook business/fan page. Is it possible to do this directly from the email in the recipients email client?

Disregard my post, I found my answer here

It's not possible to do this as of June 2011

Hi Peter,

You can add a Social Share bar to your custom email which will have a Like button. To add a Social Share bar to the email, follow the steps in this FAQ: Inserting a Social Share bar into an HTML or XHTML email

I hope this helps,

Jarrad

Hi again,

I misunderstood your post. The Like button will not add the user to your Facebook page. I'll go ahead and submit a feature request to see if that's something we could add in the future.

Thanks,

Jarrad

Any update on this? Is it possible to "Like" our page directly from the email or still just a link to our FB page?

Thanks!

Hello Ben,

Thank you for posting in your Constant Contact Community!  At this time we do not have the ability to add a "like" button to an email that will allow someone to like the page through the email, we still just allow you to add a link or icon to your Facebook page. I will submit a request on your behalf for this feature.

Just to give you a bit of information, the coding that is required to add the "like" button is through JavaScript, and it is not allowed in our emails.  We do not accept this code because most email clients will not allow JavaScript, and it could cause the email to go to the Spam folder.

Thanks,

Is this feature possible now?

Hi @EdwardD07

This is not possible within our emails, as @Samantha_O states above, it requires JavaScript which is not allowed in our emails.

Apologies for any inconvenience.

Debi.

Support Blog cropped.jpg

Hi everyone,

Today's Support blog post will show you how Get More Buzz with the Social Share Bar.

The Social Share bar is a great way to increase readers by extending your email beyond the inbox. With the Social Share bar your contacts can share your newsletter on Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin and many other Social Networks.

The bar is easy to add and just as easy for your contacts to share the email.

For the full post by Jason Murray, check out: Get More Buzz with the Social Share Bar

As always, we'd love to hear from the Community on this. Either post your feedback here or in the Comments section of the blog post.

Thanks,

Jarrad

Hey,

We're trying to add the code for users to "Like" our Fan Page. It looks like CC only supports people liking and sharing the newsletter we send out. Is there a way to get the following code into a newsletter, or something similar?

<div id="fb-root"></div><script src="http://connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js#appId=204792369556538&amp;xfbml=1"></script><fb:like href="http://www.facebook.com/cdscenters" send="true" layout="button_count" width="450" show_faces="false" font="trebuchet ms"></fb:like>

HI Jill,

That's a great question and I'm going to test this out. I'll be in touch soon!

Thanks!

Hi Jill,

Unfortunately what you want to do is not possible at this time. What you can do though is add a Facebook icon under Social Media on the left when editing a block.  Then your readers can go directly to your page and like it manually.  I'm going to pass this idea over to our developers and I hope that they can create this for the future.

Keep those suggestions coming and my apologies that this is not available.

Thanks!

Can anybody help me, inserting social media sharing button in the middle of the mail ? Constant Contact allows to insert in the top of the mail.

Hi,

At this time the Social Share bar can only be inserted at the top of your email. I'm going to create a feature request for you to see if this is something we could add in the future.

Thanks,

Jarrad

Hey Jarred,

Long time no speak. :smileyhappy:

Here is a resource you can share with your community.

http://www.addtoany.com/buttons/for/email_newsletter

It does exactly what the previous poster requested but uses an external provider.

I use it in a few clients applications and it works great.
