If someone reads an email in the preview pane, does that count as an open?

Hi @KaraB338 ,

As long as the images download in the preview pane, the opens should still be tracked. The way we track opens is to embed a transparent image automatically into every template. This image cannot be removed, and so when an email client downloads the images in the template by the contact clicking on the email to open it, the transparent tracking image would download and report as an open.

If the images don't download, we can still track the opens if someone clicks on any link inside of your email campaign. This is a great guide in our Knowledge Base that will give you more of an in-depth look at how we do the tracking.
