We offer multiple address types, such as Home, Work or Other for contacts. Though different address types are available, importing contacts from a file defaults to Home.
We ask for additional comments and votes be left on the open idea located on our Feedback boards for selecting address and phone types. Our Product team regularly reviews our Feedback boards more than our Get Help area. Though we do not have a time estimate of if a feature like this will be available in the product, any updates will be posted there, not on this post. Voting and commenting on the linked post above helps to influence future product decisions and allows you to be notified of replies from our teams.

Hi @user501128
Thank you for responding with these details! We have followed up with you on this through your email, but I wanted to make sure our response was shared here as well. Though uploading contacts through a file will automatically default to their home address, the good news is you can upload contacts work phone numbers as long as the column on your file is clearly labeled as their work phone. However for your contact’s work addresses, have you tried using a custom field? Custom fields are able to be recognized automatically as long as the columns in your file as labeled to match them.
I also apologize if the original workaround I have provided is not the answer you were looking for. We recognize it is not a solution to this feature request; it is something we suggest in the meantime. There are many factors that are used to decide what is added to or updated in our product which can cause us to sometimes not have a timeline for when a feature will be available. Though this may be the case, as previously mentioned in your original thread, we have submitted this feedback to our Product Team directly. The more users who reach out about this the more it is tracked to alert the appropriate teams.
I want to import a list of work AND home addresses along with with work and home phone numbers. The fact that I can't do this or have to use custom fields when all of my other contacts that have already been entered (one at a time) have addresses in the fields created by CC. I find this very disturbing and am considering researching new database software. This makes no sense to me whatsoever.
I agree, this seems silly you can import to a specific field. Just add that field to the drop down list for work address. Why would that be difficult to code? Simple database stuff.
Even worse, if you export contacts you get separate address fields for Work, Home,Other and even Other 2. But if you try to upload modified version of that data, the only option is "Address". This is both stupid and shortsighted that I cannot map an upload to the SAME FIELDS you supply with an export. Why can''t the filed selector dropdown simply include the different address / phone variants? This isn't some bizarre stretch request, it's basic Data Management. The workaround to create custom fields for standard data is laughable.
When creating a signup form or landing page, the only choice for the state field is off/on. Yet in the contact record, there are options for home state, work state, vacation state, and other state. Forms automatically put the state in "Other address."
The same is true for importing from files. There is only one choice for state/province (no home/work/other) option. These imports, however, automatically map the state to "Home address."
This makes it impossible to manage addresses and sync with CRMs. Can we please get a way to select WHICH address we want the forms to populate (work/home/vacation/other)?
Hello @FirstNameL62967,
Thank you for reaching out to the Community! I do apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, I would be more than happy to submit your feedback on this and you will be notified once any updates happen to this feature. Thanks again for the feedback!
Any progress on this?
Hello @FirstNameL62967,
Thank you for reaching out for an update! Unfortunately, we don't have an update on this yet but we will contact you with the email address you have on file when we do have one. Thanks!
This is not acceptable. The inability to correctly map data to the proper field is a failure of Database 101.
After over 18 months, we're finally going to start exhibiting at trade shows. There HAS TO BE A WAY to upload a batch of contacts to WORK ADDRESS/CONTACT INFO. Creating custom Work Address/Contact fields creates a hot mess of data. I don't have the bandwidth to go through thousands of contacts to manually copy/paste from Home Address, City, State, Phone, etc. to Work Address, City, State, Phone, etc.
I'm not advocating for making Work addresses/contact info the default, but there has to be a solution on the Constant Contact end to mitigate this quandary. Pull-down menu? Radio button? Check box? The backend coding can't be all that difficult.
Hello @MannyM20,
Thank you for reaching out to the Community! If you upload a spreadsheet of contacts into your account it will allow you to choose those fields in a drop down menu so you don't have to copy and paste them manually.
