I created a segment of older contacts who have not opened the last 5 emails. How would I go about unsubscribing and deleting these?

Hello @CCVT ,

If you want to only delete the contacts you can add the segment to a list, select-all the contacts while in that list view, then Actions > Delete

If you want to unsubscribe the contacts, then you'll want to make sure you have advanced contact permissions turned on for your account. Once you've confirmed that, you can export your segment, then upload that file as unsubscribed contacts to mass-unsub them.

So hepful! The benefit of mass unsubscribe is they will not be added again when we upload lists from our CRM, right?

You could potentially import them again through various means, but they would:

  • not be added to any lists
  • not count towards your active, billable contact total
  • not be available to send emails to (including quicksends and other targeted resend types)

Contacts remain unsubscribed from your account until they explicitly resubscribe. Legally speaking, this also extends outside of our system. Make sure to check out our main article on unsubscribed contacts if you're wanting some additional info on the particulars with this permission type.
