I want to copy an email, as I have always done, but there is no longer an option to do this. I have also tried to contact Constant Contact but the chat never opens and the phone calls doesn't get answered. I have been trying for several days.

Thanks, Jo

1 ACCEPTED SOLUTION

Hello everyone!

We apologize for any inconvenience caused from this Copy feature not being available on your legacy campaign. The ability to copy Legacy Newsletter templates has been disabled since we are moving forward with our updated editor and are dedicating resources to making this editor the best it can be. Because of this we would recommend recreating your template in our updated editor. This up-to-date editor does have the ability to be copied

Additionally, we have an article that specifically goes over some of the differences and similarities between the legacy editor and our current one. Feel free to peruse our Knowledge Base for other helpful guides, tutorial videos, tips, and basic troubleshooting assistance regarding the editor.

If you'd like some live, one-on-one guidance and screensharing, our friendly phone support staff would be happy to assist you while you make the transition. They can also collect info on what template(s) you'd like to have transposed into the current editor, or get an order written up if you'd like a wholly different, branded template created.

We welcome any feedback about this editor. If you would like to see a feature included, please leave your feedback here. This directly posts to our Get Feedback area where posts are read by the Product team. They use the feedback left by customers to make decisions on future feature updates based on what is getting the most volume. While we welcome your thoughts and comments here, it is best to post on that board so your feedback can be tracked easier.

No connectivity issues.  100MBps download.  Not gonna waste my time with a  screenshot.  You guys are deflecting to blame your customer.

There are no issues.  Tried on multiple browsers.

The issue is CC changed things to where I can no longer take an already sent email, copy it , modify and send another.  So CC now wants me to create an email form scratch each time?  It is insane that CC would do this.

So in already challenging times CC want business owners such as my self that are already doing 80 hour a week work weeks to do even more work than when they should not have too.

CC is totally and completely out of touch with its customers.

The fact that I am paying $200 a month for this is a joke.

Hello @DarrellS7 ,

Again, I was easily able to make a 3ge email in your account the normal way, which would indicate something on your end is preventing the same action.

Additionally, as we've stated before in this thread and in the emails sent out, 2ge's ability to be copied was taken away, not the copy functions of various other campaign types. The ability to create brand new 2ge emails was already removed years ago when 3ge was released, so 2ge only ever existed via copying very old, outdated templates.

Getting us the screenshot is part of the troubleshooting process, and without that we're not really able to assist you in figuring out what's causing your site navigation issues. Once again, you're more than welcome to call in if you'd like one-on-one guidance on how to use the current, mobile-compatible editor (including how to copy it over and over again for future templates).

Cant even get into old emails to get the code used.  Literally everything must be remade.  I hope CC goes bankrupt.  Its a tough time for business owners and this company just made all our lives harder by allowing someone that works there to justify their job and stay busy by attempting to fix things that arent broken.

I have used constant contact for about 8 years now. Always been happy. This weekend I was locked out of copying my old emails and was forced to use a new template / new design engine. I am VERY UNHAPPY with the design engine and VERY UNHAPPY with not being able to use my old emails.

If it is possible, I would like the ability to re-use the old design template and re-use my old emails ASAP.

I run a stone distributor, we sell granite and marble. We get in shipments every day, and every day the shipments look different. So Every day I use to put like 10-50 images in an email with prices and send out. Everyone was happy. With the old editor I could add as many images and as much text into the body of the email and it was easy and VERY FAST

With the new editor, I have to add a text pane, then a picture frame, then a text pane, then a picture frame. This is taking about 20X as longer, and after the 5th image/text pane addition the email starts to lag and it becomes increasingly difficult.

With the current editor, I am unable to add images below a text. It just shows up next to the text and I cant move the image at all.

I am VERY unhappy. This does NOT support my business and if you guys cant fix this for me I am going to move providers.

Hello @BradS41,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community! I do apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. We do understand that creating something from scratch can take more time than you wanted, and we won't be able to go back to the outdate, not mobile responsive version of Constant Contact. If you would like additional assistance with creating your newsletter, please send us an email at social_support(at)constantcontact(dot) and request information about getting a Professionally Designed template made based off your last newsletter sent.

Also, if you want an image underneath text, you will want to make sure your paragraphs are all in separate text blocks. If you have multiple paragraphs and a huge body of text in one text block, you won't be able to put an image anywhere within that text. You will want to separate all paragraphs using multiple text blocks found on the left hand side of the editor.

Zoe I don't think you read my email

In your previous editor I could add 50 images into one text block. It was very simple and easy.

Now I have to individually add 50 text blocks and 50 image blocks every time I make a email. This takes MUCH longer and is not something that will work for my business going forward.

Hello @BradS41,

We do completely understand how you are feeling with the new editor and are more than happy to submit your feedback on this. Something that may make your experience a little better would be to use our layouts instead of adding individual blocks

They won't change/fix the new editor - I've had to go to another company to send my newsletters now; Constant Contact is just a database for my old subscribers at this point, and soon there will be no need for that...

Here's what one of CC's customer service people told me a month ago about how the editor is messing up my template and haven't heard back since:

"...the alignment issues happening with your design are the result of an issue with our editor, not an issue with your code. I appreciate your having brought this to our attention, as this issue had not been previously reported to us.

I have passed the report along to our engineers. While I'm unable to estimate the time frame in which it may be fully resolved, I will keep this case open, to ensure that we notify you once the issue has been corrected."

That's one of those "ah well, it happens. We'll just keeping with the customers it works with" answers, so good look with your issue.

Hello @ChrisB10 ,

The message you're replying to is explicitly regarding the 3ge email editor, not the custom code editor. Your case was already submitted to the engineers. Not every issue can be fixed in a set amount of time, and the custom code editor isn't the only thing the engineers are working on. It becomes a matter of deciding which issues to address in what order they show up, as well as their weighted impact and number of reports.

If you have any additional questions regarding your custom code editor issues, you're free to contact support and ask to speak with the team that handles custom code editor troubleshooting. Otherwise, the agent that was working on your previous case(s) will respond back to your email when they're able to.

Where did the copy function go? Want to copy a campaign and then edit.

Hello @MichaelM98221 ,

It appears your account was part of the latest wave of legacy email builder retirements we've been emailing about. I'd recommend taking a look at our Knowledge Base for its plethora of helpful articles to ease the transition to our current, mobile-friendly email builder. For starters, you may be interested in this article on transitioning between the two builders

If you'd like one-on-one guidance, our general support agents can work with you live on the phone to get started as well. You can also request to have your legacy template remade in the new editor by one of the professional designers, or to have an entirely new one created for a price.

This is horrible.  Anyone looking for another platform like mail chimp now that this is no longer available?

I copied and created my most recent campaign for delivery on Oct 1.  Today, on DEADLINE, I attempted to copy any number of past campaigns and blocks to create my Oct 15 edition, only to be informed on a lengthy and pointless chat that this is not an option anymore, losing far too much of my valuable time.  There are so many things wrong with how Constant Contact has dealt with this and is dealing with it.  I had already tried the Generation 3 as it is called and decided it was not appropriate for this particular client (which I may lose as a result of this action) if I don't find them another alternative.  The reasons I am so upset about this are far too numerous to detail and would be a waste of my time given the completely unresponsive chat I had earlier clearly proving that CC has no intention of accommodating its longest and most loyal users.  My time will be better used to shop for a new platform.  I've been recommending CC for years to many clients and feel so betrayed.  It can be summed up in the "moderator" comments above on the top that they have put their resources elsewhere ($$$ - instead of improving on their mainstay product.  Just chucking it no matter the impact on its clients. It is clear corporate greed.  It is shameful.  We pay.  We own the material, not Constant Contact, they do not have the right to prohibit our use of our own material in this way.  I am so angry I cannot think and will likely miss my deadline and lose my client.

No longer able to copy/duplicate the past campaign or when I try to create a new campaign using the previous campaign I keep receiving the error. Anyone experiencing the same issue and how could it be fixed?

Hello @AllJapanNews,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community! I do apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but it does look like the copy feature has been removed from your past templates due to them being created in the older editing system. To get the copy feature back with future emails, please create a new newsletter using our Third-Generation editing system. Thanks!

Cannot create an email by using one that already existed. This is the message all day. Oops! Something went wrong. To fix this problem, we suggest that you return to the previous page, then try again. If that doesn't work, log back in to Constant Contact, then try again. If you continue to receive this error please contact our Support Team.

I never comment on stuff like this, but this is horrible, really horrible. We have more than 25 templates we have to create from scratch. That CC did not foresee that customers would need to copy records from the old editor to the new editor shows a serious lack of concern for the customers.

Just joining the conversation to say how irritating this switch is.
