Thank you for reaching out to the Community about your contacts and bringing this to our attention! At this time our system recognizes contacts by the email address. Because of this addresses already apart of your contacts will automatically update. The good news is if you are collecting information through an Event, there are labels that can be updated to help avoid the experience you are describing.
One label that can be updated is on your registration page itself. You can update the "Personal Information" field to say "Parent or Guardian Information" instead.
Under your event settings you can also change the "Participation Information" label to say Children instead.
Doing this will help make sure the adult's name is what's ultimately stored in your account's contacts.
