Constant Contact gives the ability for their users to select which list to send an email to while on the scheduling page. You can also add new contacts directly on that page. But did you know that you can narrow it down even more by selecting contacts with a certain tag? This blog will take a look at how to accomplish this in just a few, easy steps.
Note: If you have more than 10,000 contacts in your account, you won't be able to narrow by tag. You will also have to tag each contact ahead of time, to learn more about how to tag a contact, click here.
1. While working in your email draft, add your branding and fill in your email content with text and images. Click Continue when you're finished.
2. Under the Select Recipients section, select "Email Lists".
3. Place a check next to each list you want to send to.
4. Click "Narrow by tag".
5. Choose the filter:
6. Select the tags you want to send to or exclude.
7. Click Apply Filter.
Note: You can edit it or remove the tag filter up until you send the email.
8. Choose When to Send:
Q. What happens if you select a list to send to and you limit by tag as well?
A. The email will go out to anyone on the lists you select who have the following tag criteria you selected.
Q. Can I send an email by Limiting to Tags only and not select a list?
A. No, the system will not send your campaign until a list is selected.
Q. Why would someone want to Limit their emails by tags?
A. This is a great way to segment your list and send to only those contacts you truly want to send to.
Example: You want to send to customers who live in a certain zip code however they are all in different lists, so instead of going through each list to try and find which contacts are in what zip code, you can narrow the list down by the tag.
