Hey everyone, I need to figure out how to put some kind of authentication on our signup form. I have searched this topic and have found no real answers. In this day and age with all the spam Im really surprised this is not a native feature. Please help
The Constant Contact sign-up form has a built-in captcha that activates if a sign-up form receives more than 50 sign ups in a day. We are tracking feedback on having the ability to turn it on for every potential sign-up. I will make sure to note your interest in this feature within your account so our developers will see it.
So in 4 days I have recieved 64 sign-ups that look like this:
Apr 25, 2017
So, 64 over several days is not enough to trigger the captcha, but my employer is looking for legitimate results and not spam submissions. Any ideas on how I prevent these sign-ups. The name fiel is required.
Thanks for reaching out! I'm sorry you're getting suspicious sign-ups. Please feel free to email us at
social_support(at)constantcontact(dot)com with the username for your account and a reference to this post so we can further investigate exactly what's going on.
We are experiencing the same issue with over 500 entries in the past couple weeks. Just had to manually delete each address individually as there was no method to delete in bulk! ("Select all" selects all addresses in list not just on the page).
Will contact support in the email address provided. Thank You!
HERE IS THE ANSWER: use **Removed By Moderator**. Constant Contact has no answer for this problem. For the last month and a half, they've blown me off with replies like, "So sorry you are fustrated". My comapny has paid, a ton of money (monthly) for a lackluster, inferrior product. **Removed By Moderator** has a CAPTCHA, better interface and therefore... I'm transfering all of our accounts over to them.
Thanks for reaching out and we appreciate your honest feedback as it helps us to improve upon the functionality of our products. We definitely want you to have a better experience with Constant Contact and would advise using Confirmed Opt-In to circumvent any issues with potential spam addresses signing up for your lists.
We'd also like to note that if you do get more than 50 sign-ups within a 24 hour period, a Captcha challenge is automatically added to your sign-up form to help prevent this kind of spam.
Nonetheless, we're available to further investigate this for you if you'd like to send us an email to social_support(at)constantcontact(dot)com with your username, more details of what's going on and a reference to this post.
Recently we have had over 500 spam submissions through our web form (to the list "General Interest", username ""), and this includes some days (May 23rd, 24th) with way over 50 per day
In the Constant Contact community forum, read that if over 50 submissions occur in a day that Captcha is activated, but can't see how this done, or why it did not work (if it is automatic)
How can we switch Captcha on for EVERY signup please?
We currently do not have a method of adding Captcha to every sign up, however we are collecting feedback on this topic and are researching adding that feature in as an option. I'd be happy to get your feedback to the engineering team! I apologize for the inconvenience, and appreciate your patience as we look in to this feature.
I am also having the same problem. Too many spambot entries! We have Opt-in turned on, but that doesn't really fix the main problem. A captcha is needed! I have tried to use recaptcha, but it will not integrate into the code I get from you for my website. A captcha option is a MUST in this day and age.
I can definitely understand the frustration and inconvenience caused by these spambots. I have tracked your request to be able to control captcha on your sign-up form in your account for our developers to see.
The lack of protection for such a highly successful platform like Constant Contact makes no sense to me.
I can't afford machine attacks or having to maunually deleting hundreds of arronous contacts.
Also the opt in is not an option as it will put the burdon of checking for a real human onto the potential contact which will dramaticly reduce the number of legitmate contact submission.
There is no research required, just add the captcha option to the form creation tools.
Constant Contact needs to fix this!
I am sorry that there is not currently an option for a captcha on Constant Contact signup forms. I will absolutely provide this feedback to our product team and will make sure to include all of the information that you provided. We truly appreciate all of your input.
We're very sorry to hear that you're experiencing this too, and look forward to your follow-up email. As Nick previously mentioned, one method you can use to separate potential spam addresses and legitimate sign-ups is to utilize Confirmed Opt-In. It really helps in cases such as this! In addition, using the Advanced Contacts Search feature is also very helpful when you need to find a "bulk" of contacts or a specific grouping:
I am sorry to hear you are experiencing this issue as well. I encourage you to send us an email to social_support(at)constantcontact(dot)com with your username, any examples of email addresses that appear to be spam, and a description of how you have your current website sign-up form set up (was it built in Constant Contact or a third-party integration?). If you could also make a reference to this post so we know where it originated from.
Additionally, I will say one method users are using to at least try and separate the potential spam addresses from the legitimate addresses is setting up "Confirmed Opt-In." This requires contacts to reply to a confirmation email before they are officially added to the list. It might be worth setting up in the mean time while we investigate this issue.
We received over 500 spam signups (user names look like 59a832d526bd6 but they do have real email addresses) in the last thirty days. If Constant Contact does not implement a CAPTCHA or equivalent immediately, we will stop using it. Let me repeat what was said in the original post: in this day and age, there is no excuse for not implementing it
Hello @GraceInHouston. I apologize that you are getting these spam sign-ups. At this time, if you are using a Constant Contact sign-up form, CAPTCHA will only be activated after 50 sign-ups in a 24 hour period. I encourage you to speak with our Deliverability team who is best equipped to provide you with some steps you can take to prevent these types of sign ups. Here is a link to their phone numbers and hours of operation. In the meantime, will turn over to your feedback regarding a CAPTCHA feature to the appropriate team.
So many of us are complaining about this issue, and Constant Contact's constant reply is an apology and a repetition of their refusal to fix it. We are migrating
Hello @MarianneP672. I understand how having captcha would be beneficial to your business. We listen to all of our customers' feedback about how to improve our product and I have submitted your feedback as well over to the appropriate team.
