No form for a landing page?

Am I correct in saying that you cannot add a sign up form to a custom landing page? 

It seems you can only get a sign up form on the non-customizable Lead Generation Landing Page.

That's correct, the custom landing page is meant for just generating a small basic webpage, not acting like a sign up form, storefront, or anything with those specialty setups like the other two. If you have feedback regarding the customizability of landing page sign up forms, check the main article to make sure it's not already an available option, and then feel free to leave any feedback on the applicable feedback board.
