Numbered list

How do I create a numbered list within a campaign/newsletter? I thought I was doing one bit then the numbers started over again at 1, then no numbers. And how do I make extra blank lines between the numbered items? Please advise or direct me to any tutorials! Thanks

Hello. If you are looking to change line spacing for bulleted and numbered lists, please comment or vote on this post: Ability to Change Line Spacing for Bulleted and Numbered Lists. Our Product team regularly reviews our Feedback boards more than our Get Help area. Though we do not have a time estimate of if a feature like this will be available in the product, any updates will be posted there, not on this post. Voting and commenting on that post helps to influence future product decisions and allows you to be notified of replies from our teams.

Until this request is met, there are a few ways to achieve spacing visually.

  1. The text could be copied from a product such as Word and pasted into the text field.
  2. You could take a screenshot of the text from within Word and place it as an image into the newsletter.
  3. By holding down your 'shift key' and pressing 'enter' a bullet will appear, if you backspace with your keyboard the bullet/number will be removed and the space will remain in there.

Hi @RichS44

I'm sorry to hear this is happening with your numbered list! At this time our editor does not offer the ability to insert a line break into a list without creating a new bullet, or in your case number. I can completely understand how helpful it would be to format your list like this and have submitted your feedback to our engineers. I apologize for any inconvenience not having this feature may cause.

Would be very helpful to be able to add line breaks to numbered lists please! Currently, it forces you to start over at 1 after a line break.

Hi @DIRTT

Thank you for sharing your feedback on this here in the Community! This is helpful feedback we have I have submitted to our Product Team through your account.

It would be ideal if we could create numbered lists with line breaks. It's frustrating that we cannot do this on the new editor. Is there a timeline for adding in this functionality with the product team?

Hello @AmbulatoryManagement thanks for coming to the community to share your feedback! We're sorry for any difficulties and inconveniences that the lack of this feature may have caused you, and I will be sure to track your feedback with our team. We base our product timeline around the top tracked requests, and at this time we are still tracking this feature to see how many users want this implemented.

We appreciate you sharing your feedback with us!

Since it is dependent on how many users request it, I would like to add to the request for spaces between numbered lists in Constant Contact.  It is very frustrating to not be able to create a space between numbered bullet points.  It looks much cleaner and currently it's what my boss requires of me.  It seems silly that this isn't an option.  Please add this feature!

Hey @walsh82

Thank you for sharing this feedback with us! Even though it isn't a feature that is fully available we have found a workaround that'll allow you to place that line break between bulleted numbers:

By holding down your 'shift key' and pressing 'enter' a bullet will appear, if you backspace with your keyboard the bullet/number will be removed and the space will remain in there.

I will however track this request under your account so the right team can get a hold of this feedback.

That workaround no longer works for numbered lists. If you backspace to delete #2 and give you the space, instead of turning #3 into #2, it makes it another #1. It is absolutely asinine that this is not a feature, and there are at least two posts with comments/votes in the agreement that it needs done (because in addition to this one, I made a post a year ago that is apparently still in the voting stage). Instead of adding new features like websites and ecommerce, can you please fix your original product?! More isn't better if it doesn't work.

Thank you for the feedback and update regarding the workaround, @WVPresbytery .

I got your information and feedback submitted to our engineers. If and when they have an update regarding this issue, they'll make sure to notify you. At this time, the only other thing I can recommend as a workaround is either copying the text from Word. Or as a last resort you can take a screenshot of the setup as you want it to look, then use that screenshot in an image block, instead of a regular text block.

This discussion started 17 months ago and the only responses have been kludgy work arounds and the promise that "...I have passed this along to our blah, blah blah team..." and nothing has happened.  Why is it so difficult to get a simple update to fix a common issue?

Hi @DougC20708

I apologize if our responses in this thread were not the answer you were looking for. There are many factors that are used to decide what is added to or updated in our product which can cause us to sometimes not have a timeline for when a feature will be available. Though this may be the case, as previously mentioned in this thread,  these feature requests are being tracked to our Product Team. The more requests we track on a single feature the higher a priority it becomes.

I also want this feature.  VERY frustrated right now!!!

Another paying CC user asking for this feature! It should not be hard to fix the editor coding to allow for this. Emails from CC could look much better.

TOTALLY agree!!!! Making any kind of bulleted list in CC is HUGE pain in the you know what...

SERIOUSLY, why isn't this resolved?!

Please provide an update on resolution to this item.  To echo the prior comments, this is beyond frustrating and makes communications using this feature look unprofessional.

Here I am again to try and bump this up to a priority. Frankly, anyone with Myspace level HTML coding could add this, it is not some complicated feature that needs to sit on a probably NUMBERED LIST in a dusty file to be planned out. This has been a major issue for our email communications - especially over the last 18 months - and none of the workarounds you suggested actually work if you try them. This is a basic formatting request, please pass it along to someone who can implement it.

The quirky nature of Constant Contact astounds me.  I change the backend code but nothing works.  CC Help is like a dark hole.  I understand that you have many customers who need help but how about making the effort to help us instead of just saying "Your feedback will be communicated to the Product Development Team" when nothing is actually ever fixed? I work for a large organization and we are considering switching email clients for this reason alone. We have been loyal to you - can you actually be loyal to us so we won't bail?
