This NEEDS to be a feature for users! I am looking into this very same issue because I noticed that an email from another company gave me this message which made me think that their email program has this feature otherwise it would not have noted this message! This is very important not only for keeping cost low for users but also to ensure that we are reaching folks that want to receive our information.

Thank you for sharing your feedback on a feature like this! The good news is our development teams has added the ability to filter contacts based on their activity with your emails. Have you tried using our segment feature? This feature will allow you to create segments of your contacts based on not opening any of your last 5 emails, a specific email, or any email. These contacts can then be added into a new list, and sent a follow-up email like this. I hope this helps.
Checking email records one by one is not an accepted solution for finding those who have never opened an email. We need an Export to CSV or Excel that lists each email in our directory and totals how many emails they opened for the reporting period. Thanks!

Thank you for your answer. I love Constant Contact, but I don't think the developers are going to do something about this. Mousing around a bit on the Help page, I found that similar questions were raised in 2010, and they have not been resolved.
I believe this question has not been resolved because it is not in the business interests of Constant Contact to resolve it. I believe I am simply stating a fact. If we could all purge our emails, easily, of deadwood, then we will all have smaller email lists, and we will mostly be paying Constant Contact less per month.
This is not an accusation of some kind. I just believe in cause and effect. CC is a great product: Why has this issue not been resolved for about eight years? It doesn't strike me as huge programming challenge. So there must be another reason. This is my candidate for the "other reason."
However, software companies usually find out, sooner or later, that customer satisfaction is key. Changing software is far easier than buying a new computer, car, furnace, or any physical object. If you aren't willing to cannibalize your own software products, in the long run, someone will do it for you.
In other words, I suggest CC should fix this problem.
I apologize that this feature has not been implemented.

We certainly understand the value that it would be to clean up your list based on who's been active from your content. We are always looking to improve the platform to make it easier to maintain your lists. One of the best current resources would be the way to generate a list based on who's been active and who's not. For more information on this please click here. Once you create this list of contacts that haven't opened your emails over a period of time you can quickly remove these from your account all at once.
