Re: Drag & Drop Build Options Causes Uncontrollable Scrolling

I've had the same issue since I started using the new generation editor.  Super frustrating!  I'm on a PC, chrome, using a wireless mouse.

Hello @JillA95215,

Thank you for giving us your feedback on this! I apologize that you are having this experience. Have you tried on a different browser just to troubleshoot the issue? You may want to try that, so we can see if this issue is browser specific or not. Thank you!

It's not browser specific because it happens in Firefox also. I encounter it a lot. So hard to get the item in the place where you want it. Also, I am using a wired mouse, so it's not the wireless issue.

Hello @JulieL34,

Thank you for that information! Does this issue happen in every email newsletter you work in or just a specific one?

It happens all the time, whenever I drag an element into the email or move one to a different part of it.

My workaround was to set up a template with a log of the elements already there, but they still need to be moved around, and the same problem occurs.

Hello @JulieL34,

It may be where you are dragging and dropping your information as well. Images and text blocks can only fit in between separate blocks. Does this same issue continue to happen when you clear your cache?

Clearing cache does not seem to help.

I am well aware that you can only put blocks in certain places, but hte problem is that the uncontrollable scrolling doesn't stop so you can position it in one of those "correct" places. It just goes haywire. Sometimes have to go up and down 15 or 20 times before getting it to stop finally, and there doesn't seem to be anything to do to "trick" it into stopping. Just wild scrolling.

Hello @JulieL34,

Thank you for that information. We are bringing this to our higher level of support so they can do additional research, if we need more information we will follow up with you tomorrow. Thank you!

I'm having the same problem and am ready to change to another program to send out emails!

This has just started happening to me and I'm about to lose my mind. It scrolls so fast you can't insert the item where you want to insert it. It's like a carnival game only not fun.

I haven't tried that.  Would rather not have to switch browsers but I'll give it a shot next time.

I have the same issue.  It is beyond frustrating when trying to drag and drop something to a particular place in my email and the page scrolls up and down without stopping.  I've tried different browsers - normally I use Chrome.

Hi @SuzanneG2

I'm sorry to hear you are unable to create your email as easily as you should. What type of computer are you working on (Windows, Mac)? Are you able to see the pink line indicating this new block? Is the line freezing at all? Having any details of what exactly you are experiencing will help with troubleshooting. In the meantime as a workaround you can double-click on a block to add it to the bottom of the editor, then use the drag and drop icon to the right of the block to drag where you want it.

Hi Frankie,

When the uncontrolled scrolling starts, it doesn't slow down enough to ever produce the pink line. I am using a laptop with Windows 10.  I have not tried the double click method - - will give that a try.

Hi @SuzanneG2

Thank you for following up with these details! I have added it to the ticket created in your account for this experience. Please let us know if the workaround I've shared helps.

This double click suggestion would be interesting if the problem was just adding the block. However, the problem actually happens when you are moving the block, whether positioning a new block you are adding or moving a block you've already got there. It doesn't happen all the time, but once it starts, there seems to be no getting out of it. It amazes me that after all this time, CC has apparently not been able to replicate the problem that so many of us are having.

Hello @JulieL34,

Thank you for the feedback! We now have our engineers doing research and working on implementing a fix to the occasionally sensitive drag and drop feature now. We will contact you with any further updates! Thank you.

Suzanne, have you tried this recently? We had this problem for many months but just recently it seems to have corrected itself for the most part. Although Constant Contact was never able to replicate the problem, they do seem to have solved it.

Thank you, Julie.  I will give this a try!

I'm not quite ready to say it is completely fixed, Frankie, but have not encountered the problem for a while now.

And, I just want to say that we do NOT believe it was on our end, need to clear cache, etc. as it happened in multiple browsers across at least 4 computers. So I am hoping CC will stop giving that out as if it is a solution.

Also, I noticed quite by accident last night that CC is now making videos explaining why people should not want features that have been discontinued, which suggests there have been final decisions made about some of them. Perhaps you can help your colleagues get that information in sync with your stock answers in the community. Specifically I am speaking of anchor links and one other that I have temporariy forgotten. Just tell people it isn't coming back. If you lose customers as a result, it's better than dragging them along for many many months when you know full well a decision has been made.

For me right now, the biggest problem is the inability to achieve the features of what used to be done as a blockquote. It could be allowing padding on the left and right of a text block, maybe there are other ways to achieve it. Of course it can be done by custom coding, but that is no longer allowed either.

Thanks.
