Registrants not showing up under "orders" in new events system

We followed all the steps to create and event and tried registering for it. 2 issues: 1. There is nothing that signals the registrant that the registration went through, the form does not change and no confirmation email is sent 2. Registrants are not showing up under "orders" but it does show sales under "tickets". I watched the video twice and cannot figure out what we are doing wrong. Please help!
