Revising a whole contact list

Revising a whole contact list

I have found a contact list that has all the first names in the last name column and last in first name column. I exported the whole list and repaired it but there are a couple concerns. 1. It doesn't look like all the lists they are a part of will upload back into the contact list. The other is I'm afraid I'm just uploading new contacts and adding to the list that is wrong. I know I could create a new list and upload the repaired list but most importantly they need to carry which lists they are on into the upload. Can I do this somehow?

Thank you.

Hello @MichelleK683 ,

When you upload a list via file, by default any unique contacts (i.e. email addresses) that were already contacts will simply have their information updated where applicable (different first name, different last name, newly selected lists, etc.)

Therefore, as long as you're uploading the contacts via file, any email addresses that are already in the system will remain in the lists they were already in. All it will do is update new list memberships, and contact fields.
