I'm sorry to hear you're having some difficulties using our Events. We'd love to help troubleshoot this but we'll need a bit more clarification.
Are you attempting to send yourself a test of the Events invitation? If so you can find the steps to send a test of it within this article, Send an Event-related Email. However, when you get to step 4, instead of scheduling out the invitation you'll want to click on the Preview button, as shown below:
