Showing contacts name

After creating the email, I continue and select the contact group that I want to send it to.  However when the email goes out it says "Dear Custom Field".  How do I get the names to be inserted after selecting the contact group?

If you're using the regular email editor (not building purely from code in the Custom Code editor), you'll need to make sure you're actually inserting a Greeting Tag or Contact Details, rather than typing out something like "Dear [Custom Field Name]." Since these are coded elements, the insert option is only way of setting it up so our system will actually insert those details (or default to the secondary setups if n/a).
