Whenever I type text and input space with space bar the space disappears immediately, so if I continue to type the words run together, I'm not having this issue on any other platforms using the same keyboard and browser, any ideas of what might be causing this? I have a video I can share.
Final Update 11/3: Hello everyone. I'm pleased to say this is now resolved. A fix was rolled out this morning that included several editor improvements, including this one where spaces were being automatically removed in some cases in Firefox.
If you still observe the space bar being removed between words, I'd try restarting your browser or clearing cache just to make sure the old code isn't cached somewhere.
I'm truly sorry this one took so long to resolve, but happy to see if be addressed.
When I am typing in a new word into the newsletter template -- the space bar does not create a space between the words that I am trying to type?? Outside of CC, this is not the case -- the space bar does do what it should ... create a space. Any tips?
They don't seem to care. I've been typing in Word and copying it to CC.
When I type text and leave spaces between words, the spaces don't show up. So it's one continuous stream of letters.
So this was going to be fixed at the end of July. Then mid-August. It's almost October, and there has been no movement or update on progress. Constant Contact, are you even doing anything? I expect an answer.
It's October 4th and this issue still exists. Yes I'm sure that most of us are using an alternative....but it isn't a solution. I use Firefox exclusively and now have to alternate between itandEdgeoraddingspaceswhichIdonotwanttodo...see what I mean? I "chatted" in August and got the same response as everyone else. I guess it isn't really a priority.
This issue has been widely discussed (running together) for half a year. Caitlan your Administrator promised but did not provide updates. Back in August she said 'engineers testing a fix' . Well no fix. And this is disruptive. I do insert an extra letter and advised your staff of a workaround easier than sending customers to another browser. However even that you didn't share with your community customers.
What is going on with ConstantContact. You were a conscientious public company but now I fear you outsourced everything including basic software coding to others. Did you?? Is this company going downhill?
You changed software underlying the templates (such as can't even have fixed font sizes in the 'buttons' that are the same day to day); and even spellcheck often doesn't work at all.
So what happened and what is going to happen? Please update. Obviously some of us have no desire to leave and learned a new system over again; so we'd like to stay with Constant Contact. But you have to 'up your game' back to the standards you had in previous years.
Thanks you very much and please provide a progress report.
October 17, 2022 - this is still an issue and hasn't been fixed yet...
I've sent a lot less emails than normal because of this, and my revenue is down as well - email marketing does work - its been 6 months with no fix other than "use another browser" or "copy/paste" from a different document...
The quality of your product continues to fall apart. I have been experiencing increasing errors for over 6 months now.
Currently, I cannot format text in most of my document. When I try to hand type into the document, the space bar shows a space but then when i start to type the next word the space is ignored.
I cleared my browser, tried other browsers, used a totally different device and still cannot use most of the features.
Do you have any advice before I ask my team to find a new email client?
Becoming unusable. Very irritated.
I'm been stunned and very disappointed that Constant Contact (CC) can't solve this "disappearing space character" issue for Firefox users. My wife suddenly started to encounter it months and months ago when working on her CC account using Firefox on her laptop. Oddly I could log into her CC account from my desktop using Firefox and I didn't have the "space" issue. The solution was for her to just use Chrome for CC work. I work on THREE different CC accounts on my desktop using Firefox and never had the "space" issue on any of those three CC accounts, even when logging into her CC account. That is, until just a few days ago. Now my Firefox won't allow spaces, but only in one of CC accounts,. There is no "space" issue when logged into the other two CC accounts. So, I too now have to use Chrome to work on that one particular account.
Really? Stunningly hard to comprehend why CC can't figure out and fix this issue. Very disappointing. They have probably alienated MANY users by forcing this workaround (use Chrome).
It's not really about the account per se, though. It's the cross platform editor. Probably your accounts where you didn't have the problem you were still using 3rd gen interface and templates. You may soon find you can't do that any more either. Last I heard they were converting existing emails to the new editor when you replicate them.
JulieL34. Thanks for your response. However, response doesn't help this user. I don't know anything about "Cross Platforms editors" etc. Nor, I suspect, does it mean anything for most other Constant Contact users. The question for us less system-literate users is simple; Will this "space' thing go away for Firefox users? What's to prevent it from starting to happen when using Chrome? Or... are users just resigned to using Chrome because that "works" at lease for now?
Bob_Alder--I didn't know any of this terminology before I started battling with this space problem either. I learned it all while haggling over this, so I totally get where you're coming from. Today a support rep told me that the problem arose from a Firefox update and that Constant Contact is working with Firefox in the hope they can help resolve it. He was not able to provide any kind of ETA, however, so it's not a satisfying answer. He also said this problem had arisen once before with a browser update and that eventually it went away, probably as part of a bug fix on Firefox's end. I know it is tempting to say "don't pass the blame" but imho the main thing is not who is to blame but who is going to solve it. For my part, I am NOT willing to switch to Chrome but today I am trying out Brave, which is much more Firefox-like. Not my ideal solutionbut I'm experimenting anyway.
Hi, I have found a simple workaround until they get this fixed. If you type any two letters, then add the space between them you can work your text within those two letters and your space bar will work. Example: r You can work within the space between the "r" and the "p" with no problems. p. It's messy but I find it better than switching out my browser every time.
This is like the "fix" I discovered quite a while back. I was using brackets and typing inside them. I never tried with other letters though. One possible advantage of the brackets is if you forget to take them out they just look odd, not like a typo. I recently heard (and this doesn't totally surprise me) that the problem arose with a Firefox update. I haven't quite figured out how to do it, but am going to try to file it as a problem with Firefox and see what they say.
Dang. I tried that "Fix." It works! Of course when done, you have to delete the leading and ending "temporary" characters. That is surely a BIG clue to the Constant Contact "experts" as to what the heck causes this LONG-STANDING and MOST FRUSTRATING issue (Yes, I'm SHOUTING!!!) I've always been appreciative of CC's great phone support, but their tech team should be embarrassed by not being able to fixing this. It impacts a significant percentage of their user base.
Thanks to you, there is a workaround, albeit a goofy one. Thanks again.
