Hi everyone!

Have you heard about the great new way to build your list? It's called "Text to Join" and it's making expanding your list even easier!

With Text to Join you have another fast, easy and free way to grow your subscriber base. Text to Join allows your contacts to sign up to your mailing list directly through text message. No websites, no sign up sheets, just a simple text message.

Not only is it easy for your contacts to sign up to your list, it's easy to set up. Subscribers send a text message with the keyword and shortcode  you've created. They then receive a new text message where they enter their email address. Once they click send, they're automatically added to your contact list. After you've done this, you can send them emails, surveys and event invites. The best part of all of this is once you've set up Text to Join, there's no maintenance. It's effortless and free. For more on Text to Join, check out this short video.

Love to hear how Community members have already promoted their mailing list using Text to Join or ideas you have for using it. There are many ways to utilize the feature, and your peers would benefit a lot if you share what's working for you!

Text to Join is one more way to grow your small business using Constant Contact, and we wish you the best!

Thanks,

Jarrad

Re: Text to Join

Question for you.

What happens to the collected phone numbers?

Re: Text to Join

Hi Tony,

I don't think we're collecting the phone numbers. We're just letting people text to join using their cell phones.

I'll ask around though and get back to you!

Great question!

Re: Text to Join

Hi Tony,

The phone numbers we receive are tracked internally, but only for rate limiting purposes. (So no can flood your Text-to-Join keyword with messages!)

When a new contact signs up for your mailing lists via Text-to-Join, he or she comes in as a new contact with only the provided email address included - no phone number.

I hope this helps!

Re: Text to Join

Can a single phone number register more than once?

Re: Text to Join

Hi Tony,

Yep! We recognize that's useful in many situations. We do have a daily limit on the number of submissions per phone number, but we'll be adjusting that over time as we see how it's used.

Thanks Jim,  nice to hear from you again.

Glad to see you bringing these SMS tools out of the lab and into the mainstream.

Keep up the good work.

Thanks Tony! Great to talk to you again as well.

Yes, Text-to-Join is the first direct descendant of a Labs project, and we're very excited to see how customers will use it.

Re: Text to Join

This is a great feature that we'd like to implement--we do presentations to large audiences and it would be easier to post the text to join info up and ask everyone to text versus circulating sign-in sheets and transcribing.

There is one issue that we are trying to resolve--when one texts to join and sends their email address, the user receives an email message requesting to confirm their email address.  Once this is done, only the email address is subscribed--there is no prompt for the subscriber to enter name, contact info or custom fields, correct?

Having this information for our subscribers is actually very important, as we segment our lists frequently.  Is there any way new subscribers can be auto-prompted to update their preferences (outside of an auto-responder)?
