Twitter post fail

Twice in the past week, I have had posts to Twitter fail to send with a "user is over daily status update limit" error. I am never over my update limit; the queued post is typically the only post of the day. One of the failed posts was supposed to be posted today and it repeatedly fails. However, I am able to make a test post through TweetDeck without issue. Sort of defeats the purpose of queuing a post if I have to log back in to resend when it fails.

Hello everyone,

Our engineers are reporting that the "User is over daily status update limit," API and posting issues should now be resolved. Thank you all for the helpful info and patience while our engineers worked with Twitter to get this addressed.

If you're still experiencing this error, please create a new thread so we can investigate and troubleshoot further.

Same issue!

Same here.

We hardly do tweets and the only third-party activity we do is with Constant Contact. These social shares go out at most once a month, maybe twice. Not sure what is going on. Like some suggested, I tried to edit yet wasn't sure how to edit once it posted and I received an error message. I simply went out to Twitter directly and shared from there. No problems then!

This is clearly a Constant Contact issue, as I can post directly from Twitter fine, but cannot post from CC. The question is, will they actually correct this or just ignore it like they have numerous other issues (i.e., inability to wrap text around images, inability to insert photo captions within a body of text, etc.)? Given the the OP is now 3 months old, I'm not holding my breath.

I'm getting the message "User is over daily status update limit." when trying to share too Twitter. This is impossible as this is the first Tweet sent since yesterday afternoon. Please advise.

Hello @TanyaW42 ,

We've seen this issue occur intermittently specifically when trying to post to Twitter. Typically waiting a few hours, up to 24 at absolute most) and then retrying the post will allow it through. It looks like the issue is currently tracked for your account so if and when our engineers have an update regarding it, they'll notify you directly.

What the heck is this? I know it's some error but why is it telling me "User is over daily status update limit? I don't know why I pay for this service.

Hello @JasonK781 ,

Does recreating the tweet from scratch and trying to post the new one work? Or reducing the number of characters - even if you're already within the limit? Beyond that, it may be that there's too much traffic coming into Twitter resulting in certain 3rd party API restrictions, and it'll just be a matter of trying to post at a later time.

If none of your attempts to post to twitter, even with characters way below the limit and/or at different times, go through then it may be indicating something on the Twitter side blocking our API from posting specifically to your account. You may wish to check your Twitter privacy settings or other account elements, or reach out to their support to see if there's anything they're able to see in your account that'd prevent 3rd party APIs from posting.

We are also getting that same error, with every post since yesterday -  nothing is posting to twitter from our constant contact scheduler.

I just got this same error.  Posted to twitter from CC fine a few days ago. Today, it doesn't want any updates from CC.  Tried once, got this error (even though I haven't posted anything to our Twitter account in days). Went to twitter and confirmed that CC is an approved third party connected app. Went back to CC to try it again, created a new post and got the same error.  What gives??

Does reducing the number of characters - even if you're already within the limit - get your post through? Beyond that, it may be that there's too much traffic coming into Twitter resulting in certain 3rd party API restrictions, and it'll just be a matter of trying to post at a later time, even up to 24 hours later.

Hi William,

I actually did not change anything about my post, but kept clicking "Retry" and it finally went through just now.  Is there a way that CC can change the error message to say that it was rejected due to (assuming) heavy traffic, please try again shortly?  Also, just for your techs' knowledge, I even checked the twitter status (https://status.twitterstat.us/) and twitter api status (https://api.twitterstat.us/) pages and both said, and still say, there are no problems. So I'm not sure if API traffic was really the issue unless it's on CC's end?

The issue isn't necessarily a "system issue," it's sometimes a matter of too much traffic coming from singular or multiple third party sources that can result in rejections. It's something our engineers are already working with Twitter on, but as the link I've provided will show:

These limits include actions from all devices, including web, mobile, phone, API, etc. API requests from all third-party applications are tracked against the hourly API limit. People who use multiple third-party applications with their account will therefore reach the API limit more quickly.

Hi, I keep getting the error "User is over daily status update limit" - I only post one email a day and this is the only thing I post to Twitter. Can you let me know how to resolve this issue? Thank you. Diana

I used the Social campaign share function in CC and on my "Tweet" am receiving an error stating "User is over daily status update limit" however I haven't even made any updates on Twitter until now. What is this in reference to? I've never seen this error before and I have used the CC Social Campaign share a few days ago without any issues.

I keep getting an error that I'm over the daily status update limit, even though I haven't posted anything in days. I've re-connected my Twitter app multiple times and re-authorized. I've been having to post to Twitter manually quite often when I use Constant Contact.
