Understanding unsubscribed contacts

Is it an all or nothing unsubscribe ? or can they opt to receive certain types of emails

Unsubscribing using the unsubscribe link in every email's footer is an all-or-nothing action. By default we also have an Update Profile link in the footer, which can be edited for list selection options, as well as toggled off and on through your Settings. Contacts can use the Update Profile form to opt in and out of lists that you've made available for them to select. Their selections or de-selections won't change what lists they're on that you don't have included in the form.
