Have you ever been able to find a way to update an email when there were two emails for the same contact and one was deleted? I saw that this question was asked two years ago, but I am having that same problem now.

If that email address was already previously on the account, its contact record may be attached and unable to be edited, especially if either were ever unsubscribed and resubscribed. I'd advise adding the updated address to the system via the type/paste multiple or import file methods, since the singular add may result in an email address already in-use error. Once that email address has been added as contact, you can update it with all the associated contact info (name, address, custom fields, list memberships and tags, etc.)
