Trying to use one of my own images as a background, however no matter how big i make it (currently at 2000x2000 pixels), the image 'repeats' itself on the background of the email when it gets to about half way across. This is leaving it looking disjointed and unprofessional... any advice?
Hello @MatthieuC5,
Thank you for your feedback on this. The reason that the background is set to tile is because every one of your subscribers will view your email on a different sized monitor or device. If the image didn't tile, it would instead stretch to fit their screen, and wouldn't give you the desired effect. Our developers are looking into a solution for this and I'm more than happy to let them know that you would also like this feature. In the meantime, we have resources for backgrounds that will tile seamlessly or you can use one of the ones already built into our tool, to ensure that your email looks just the way you want it to.
Hi @JenOTL!
Thank you for reaching out to the Community with your questions. When it comes to what size to have your images we do suggest them to be 600 pixels in width or less. In fact, here’s a helpful FAQ we have to help when uploading images. At this time our background images will tile itself to fill the screen. However I would be happy to pass along your feedback for the ability to further customize the background images.
Hi Gwendolyn,
I'm having the same issue. No matter what I change the pixel size to, the image still repeats itself and doesn't fill the entire background.

Hi @WLC_vl
I apologize you aren't able to customize your background image to fill the screen as you would like. Unfortunately, at this time our background images only have the ability to tile itself. Being able to to customize the way background images fill the screen is a feature request I would be happy to submit for you.

Yes, please do that.
Hello @DillonC8. I have tracked this feedback in your account as well. I did want to point out that this article from our Help Center which talks about background images does provide some information on images tiling. Hope this helps!
I am having this same problem--has this issue been resolved?
Hello @DonN083. At this time, we are not able to prevent a background image from tiling. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause but we are looking into ways that our customers can have more control over the appearance of a background image and I will submit your feedback over to our engineers.
Please make this update ASAP, it is extremely frustrating to have the background images tile themselves automatically.
Thank you!
Hey @MarkB00,
Thank you for providing your feedback on the Community!
I have passed this feedback to have more control over image formatting along on your behalf. I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Please let us know if you have any other questions.
Thanks and have a great day!
Hello @ElizabethG0,
Thank you for coming into the Community with your concerns. We don't currently have an ETA on when this might be added, but I can absolutely make sure that your account is tracked as someone that is requesting this, so you can be contacted once the change is implemented.
is there any update for this problem....still having the same issue 1 year later
Hi @JeffM36341
Thank you for checking in! We are still tracking feedback on this problem and verifying the issue as well as creating a resolution. I have added your feedback and requested you be notified when there is any change in status. Please feel free to reach out should you need anything else.
Thank you for choosing Constant Contact. Have a good weekend.
I also like to submit this to the development team. I am experiencing the same issue.
Hi @JessicaC9,
Thank you for your feedback! We also suggest you submit your feedback to our Help Center so our engineering team can review that as well!
Thank you and have a great day!
Hi @Sueski99
Thank you for reaching out to the Community about this! Background images are currently set tile as to not distort it. If your newsletter is large in length, a single background image could stretch or become very distorted. I apologize we don’t have a time estimate of when a feature to better control your background image will be available. It is however something we’re tracking feedback on and submitting to our engineers.
Is there any update on the status of this feature?
Thanks!
BV
Hello @PeterMartys
Thanks for reaching out to us in the Community for an update! We know that being able to have one background image as opposed to a tiled background is an important feature for customers such as yourself to have. While we don't have an update on this for you at this time, I have tracked your desire for this feature in your account and forwarded to the appropriate teams for review.
Please feel free to reach back out if you have any other questions or concerns. Have a great day!
Unfortunately this has been an issue for a long time now, and it's not a difficult fix to expect especially when paying $500/month to CC. We don't build our emails to look sloppy. We build them to look clean, well designed and thoughtful. They should look crisp when a user opens them. Tiling the background makes the design work we put in look sloppy, at no fault of our own.
No matter how clean our design is, we either have to opt for no background or one that will tile. This isn't a good solution considering it's 2019 and not difficult at all for CC to make this happen.
